Dear Everitt Families:

Yesterday morning, I delivered memory banners to each of our feeder elementary schools. Our students wrote about their favorite elementary school memories. (We sent the messages to our students' non-feeder elementary school as well.) Seeing the staff at each school with their students was so incredible. In each school, they gathered around the banner, laughing and remembering each of our students as they were. We have truly wonderful elementary schools in the Wheat Ridge area and we are very happy to be the middle school that receives students and families from all of them. I know last night was hard for many people in our community. We are here to support you.

Next week, our 6th graders head out to Outdoor Lab! 6th graders leave on Tuesday and return on Friday. Outdoor Lab is a highlight for many students and I'm so excited for all of them. They always seem so grown up when they return on Friday. All 6th grade families should have received an email today with information about next week. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Just a reminder...8th grade parents, there are flyers later in the newsletter about upcoming information nights at some of the high schools. We will also be holding an information night at Everitt on Monday, December 5th for families who would like to learn more about Everitt. I will also be giving tours to families every Wednesday at 1:00 pm. If that time does not work for families, I am happy to schedule another time. Please let your friends and neighbors know about the tours and the information night.

Part of the feedback we received from you in our October family survey indicated that you'd like to have more information about how you can support your child in each of their classes. Below is a slideshow of information about each class for the month of November. Please check it out to see what your children are working on and learning about this month!

And finally, today we said goodbye to our wonderful facility manager, Mr. Pinney. Dave served as FM at Everitt for 11 years. We will miss Dave and wish him the best in his new position at Summit Ridge (which, he tells us, will allow him to be on the lake and fishing by 3:00). We will miss you, Dave!

Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

SEA CAMP 2023

Attention Everitt Parents and Guardians:

Seacamp still has student slots to fill for our trip to San Diego this May and we are opening up this trip to 6th graders as well! We are looking for 6th, 7th, or 8th graders that are interested in this great opportunity. Our students will get to experience hands-on learning about marine biology, spend time in the ocean, and visit the San Diego Zoo. Unfortunately, we are still short of our minimum numbers, and if we cannot fill those spots, we will lose this opportunity indefinitely. We will be holding a final informational meeting on Wednesday, November 30th at 6:00 in the library. If you are interested in more information, please email Kendal Widtfeldt or Lauren Waits.

OUTDOOR LAB NEWS

IT'S ALMOST TIME!

6th Grade Families,

We are gearing up and very excited for Outdoor Lab! Here are a few things you might like to note:

  1. Please check the paper teachers sent home or Google classroom, for the packing list. Remember students can get loaners at OELS—don't buy something if you can't afford it. We also have the Hub at school and can look through items there as well.
  2. Students will need to be brought to school on Tuesday, November 15th with all their gear. They can come between 7:30 and 8:15 AM. Please look for signage outside for Windy Peak and Mt. Evans to know where to drop gear so we can get it on the correct site bus.
  3. Any medication that is traveling with your child, must be to the health room no later than Friday, November 11th.
  4. Please remember, students may not bring food or phones to Outdoor Lab. If they come with a phone, we will keep it locked in the main office until they return back to school on Friday.
  5. Remember you can always check out the Outdoor Lab information slide show and a link to the Outdoor Lab Foundation on our website under Family Resources.

PTA (Parent Teacher Association) CORNER:

Our focus is on building lasting connections between families, getting to know our student’s teachers, and creating opportunities to come together as a community, valuing our diversity and celebrating our differences.

Thank you to everyone who came out and joined online for our last meeting on Wednesday. We learned that our Student Resource Officer went to school to be a teacher and specifically wanted to be a middle school teacher, which probably explains why he is such a great fit at our school! Keep an eye out for a sticker design contest for the kids and upcoming Holiday Giving Tree! All the minutes from the meeting will be posted on our PTA page shortly here:

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 7th at 6:30 pm in the library and online via Zoom, please mark your calendars. We also post reminders on our FaceBook site (https://www.facebook.com/groups/everittpta).

If you have not already done so, please consider joining the PTA TODAY to have a voice and be a part of our community - Sign-up here: https://forms.gle/iekuJqx6YGXFsg6q7

We are always open to new ideas on how to bring our great Everitt community together and look forward to learning from each other. Please feel free to send any questions or suggestions to the PTA at EverittPTA@gmail.com or to me directly at dan.b.weinstein@gmail.com or 720-291-1435.

Thank you,

SHADOW WHEAT RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL

Wheat Ridge High School is proud to continue the tradition of 8th Grade Shadow opportunities this school year at The Farm.
