Green Tree Elementary art teacher Pam Winter has been named the 2021 Elementary Art Educator of the Year by the Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA), an organization dedicated to keeping quality visual arts education in Missouri schools.
Winter has taught in the District since 2005 and has been the art teacher at Green Tree Elementary for 14 years. In 2016, she was named Green Tree’s Teacher of the Year. Last year, Winter received the Alpha Delta Kappa Missouri Excellence in Education Award, the South-Central Region’s Excellence in Education Award, and is now in the running for the International Excellence in Education award, which will be announced in July of this year.
“I am honored and humbled to win this award,” shared Winter. “I work with so many amazing educators at Green Tree, within Wentzville School District, and across the state of Missouri who have shared ideas that continue to enrich the experiences of my students in the art room. I love facilitating creative experiences and adventures for my students at Green Tree.”
AFTERNOON CAR RIDER PICK UP
Parents, in order to quickly and efficiently get you through the car line, please hang your child's bright colored name card on a hanger from your rearview mirror or place it in the passenger side window. If you need a bright colored tag, please let us know. Pictured is an example.
FEBRUARY ESSENTIAL- ALWAYS BE HONEST AND DO THE RIGHT THING- EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING
Homework will be turned in each day for each subject by every student with no exceptions
Sharpen pencils at beginning of day, have all materials for the day ready to go in the morning
You will make every effort to be as organized as possible.
On a field trip, enter a public building quietly. We will enter the building so quietly that no one will even notice we are here. This rule applies to entering any place where people are gathered, whether it be the movies, a church, a theater or any other venue.
When in a line, walk single file, two to three feet behind the person in front of you with your arms at your sides. Face forward at all times. There is absolutely no talking.
Take schoolwide drills and precautions seriously.
MARCH ESSENTIAL-BE ORGANIZED AND PREPARED TO MAKE EVERYDAY THE BEST DAY THAT IT CAN BE
No matter the circumstances, always be honest. Even if you have done something wrong, it is best to admit it.
Honesty is the easiest route to take. It requires no excessive thought, no elaborate plan, and no need to recall fake information.
Always make a point to reward honesty. Sometimes students do the things that make me want to discipline them, but I won’t because they were honest about what they did. In Ron Clark's eyes that is a far greater lesson to learn.
Kids are skeptical at first, and they lie through their teeth to avoid getting into trouble. It takes a lot of time and patience before they realize they can tell the truth and avoid stricter punishments because of their honesty.
ESSENTIAL 10 BOOT CAMP
Upon returning from winter break, GTE held an essential 10 boot camp to revisit one essential each day and review expectations for the essential.

WOW WHEEL WEDNESDAYS
Every week, teachers will choose one student who was showing exceptional House Character/Spirit and upholding the Essential 10 from the week prior. This is an honor to receive. This wheel is special and holds its own magic. No one can touch it unless they are given permission. On Wednesdays, the chosen students spin the wheel and earn house points.
