Big picture

From the Principal

At the start of Lent, we tend to focus on how we are to give up the things we enjoy, the things that give us pleasure. We also focus on spiritually and are more focused on our families. With this in mind remember to be thankful for what God has given us. I feel blessed by the many loving families and caring staff at St. Jude School. I enter this Lenten season with a renewed sense of hope. I hope that each of you embraces the season of Lent and that you and your family take advantage of the many opportunities offered through our Church.

Many blessings,

Mrs. Molly Hibler

Night at the Races

We had some big winners at Saturday's event. Congratulations to Molly Durham who won Principal for the Day, Kayla Linden who will be Physical Education Teacher for the Day, and very special thank you to the Krebs family, winner of the cash giveaway for donating the proceeds back to the school. Mr. Rowe, Mr. Pallardy, Mr. Danford, Mrs. Bees, and Mr. Thur provided delicious food and desserts for the occasion. Mrs. Griffiths and Mrs. Pardee were extremely generous with their donations. The staff worked long and hard to make this event an evening that was enjoyed by all. We came together as a community and raised money to support continued school improvements, STREAM classes, and much more. Many thanks to one and all!

Pennies for Patients

The final results for Pennies for Patients are final! St. Jude School raised a total of $3215.60. We came together in the end to help our heroes! The competition was fierce, Ms. Bickett's class came in third place, Mrs. Leonowich's class second place, and the winner was Mrs. Puskas with close to $500 collected. Thank you to everyone for your kindness and generosity during this campaign!

Kindness Challenge

Throughout February Mrs. Milliken organized the Kindness Challenge. During lunch, students made cards for military, police, fire workers, and our friends at the street department. On Fat Tuesday, we delivered donuts and the cards. Mrs. Holly Brinda, Mayor of Elyria, was quick to thank our school for this kind gesture with a lovely post on Facebook. Her comments were then picked up by Fox 8 News, who reposted it on their website. Thank you, Mrs. Milliken, for organizing this awesome event.

ALL 5TH AND 7TH GRADE PARENTS!

A postural screening will soon be conducted here at St. Jude’s for all 5th and 7th-grade students. This screening helps to identify children with a curvature of the spine called scoliosis or other possible spinal problems. The purpose of this program is to recognize the problem at its earliest stages so that the need for treatment can be determined.

The procedure for screening is a simple one in which a student’s posture is inspected as he/she stands and bends forward. If a postural problem is suspected, the parent will be notified.

If your child is currently under active treatment for a postural problem, or if you object to your child being screened, please let me know as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the screening, please contact me at 440-366-1681 or email jjanuzzi@stjudejaguars.org

I plan on conducting the screening during the week of March 11th, 2019.
