A Note from Lisa
Hello CTE Friends!
I can hardly believe we are already in September, and everyone has their new school year well underway. I live a stone's throw from a high school and daily hear the sounds of the school year, marching band practicing, coaches whistles, passing bells, and best of all, the noise of happy students. It's still quite warm, but the days are getting shorter, and I can feel fall right around the corner. Fall is a happy time in education; the new year is fresh, the excitement of Friday Night Lights, CTE Ag animals are adorable babies, and CTSOs are revving up for a new competition year.
I hope all of you take a moment to soak in the happy sounds of students back in the building. It is something I think our COVID-19 experiences have ensured we won't take for granted any time soon. We know there will be challenges as this new year rolls forward, but it is important to take time to enjoy the little things, like happy whistles and laughing children.
Here are items to have on your September to-do list:
- Collect and file Work-Based Learning training plans (required in the 1st 15 days of school).
- Enter IBC summer completions in PEIMS. IBCs earned 6/1/2021 - 8/31/2021 will be extracted to TEA in Fall PEIMS submission.
- Ensure new and returning teachers have all necessary certifications and trainings. (WBL/CTE Science/CTE Math).
- Schedule CTE Advisory Meetings for the year.
- Review CLNA requirements to ensure you have a timeline set to complete in the spring.
- Review Programs of Study to plan for 2022-2023 additions that may need to begin moving through your LEA approval process.
Best regards,
Lisa

2022-2023 CCRSM Planning and Designation Application Dates Announced
The TEA has announced the upcoming CCRSM Application dates for both new Planning Year Campuses and Designation (Renewal) Campuses for the 2022-2023 school year.
District and campus leaders are encouraged to make a note of CCRSM Application open and close dates, as well as Technical Assistance Webinars ahead of the upcoming fall semester.
Please share information with anyone who aids in the CCRSM Application process, such as district staff and higher education and business partners.
- Any district intending to open a new CCRSM campus must apply for a Planning Year through our online application.
- For current 2021-2022 CCRSM Planning Campuses, a Designation (Renewal) Application is necessary to continue towards implementation with students in the 2022-2023 school year.
- Designation (Renewal) is a yearly process, and an application with signed CCRSM Assurance pages from authorized school district, institution of higher education, and/or business/industry partner officials must be attached.
The online application portal can be found at www.texasccrsmdesignation.org.
Proposal from TEA Accountability Policy Advisory Committee - APAC
Be in the know!
A proposal to make earning CCMR points more difficult was developed.
2022 Accountability Development Materials. They addressed HB 773 Adds career and technical education program of study to College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR).
If you would like to learn about specific comments, concerns, or questions that arose during the meetings, be sure to check out the meeting summaries, which will be posted in the coming weeks.
Take note that if this proposal is implemented, it will require both a completer status in Program of Study and earning an Industry-Based Certification to gain a CCMR point. If only one is completed, it = 0 CCMR points.
The 1/2 point for POS and 1/2 IBC point referenced in their presentation are for "orphaned" POS or IBC. These 1/2 points will disappear once they are cleaned up with the new WBC.
Note: This is a first attempt proposal, not ready for public comment at this time. Stay alert and be ready to provide your input on behalf of your district and students.
TEA has shared, decisions have not been made, this is in committee discussions.
Changes will take effect in the 2022-2023 school year.
This means, 2021-2022 CTE Industry-Based Certifications will be the only CCMR point.
Be sure you are using the current TEA information!

North Texas Pathways Aligned to Human Services & Health Science
(On the events page.)
Training dates:

The website also contains information about the work a CHW does in their community and the process of becoming certified. Complete the first portion of the training online for around 3 weeks prior to the training date. Each registrant attends one day of training at ESC 10 in Richardson, TX. The resulting CHWI certification is good for 2 years. The certification can be renewed with the completion of 20 hours of continuing education and a renewal application.
On the day of training, each attendee will apply for their certification with the Texas Department of State Health Services and learn how to utilize the resources provided to them during the training. Teachers should not need to purchase any additional materials in order to train their students.
