How did containment of Communism not work?
Containment of communism didn't work because, the U.S.S.R was spreading its communism to Cuba,U.S.A., W.Europe,Syria,Africa,Afghanistan,Thailand,Vietnam,China & the Gulf. The main goal was to mostly not spread communism to any part of the world.
1958 The Great Leap Foward
Mao Zedong wanted China to become a powerful country in the world. China needed to have more factories and production of goods and services. Mao thought he could get his farmers to produce steel and work in factories, however, this created shortage of farmers that were needed to feed China's very large population.
1966 Cultural Revolution
Mao Zedong brought change to China through communism and used his powerful government to also change the culture of China. He wanted his people to only celebrate communist government and its ideals. Religions were banned and self - expression through its arts were also outlawed, and those who mocked the government were punished, if not killed.
1934 The Long March
Nationalists Party leader Chiang Kai Shek & 700,000 troops forced Mao Zedong's Red Army of 100,000 troops out of southern China. Mao's troops marched 6,000 miles west and north in order to escape. During the Long March, Mao lost 93,000 of his men, however, over the course of this journey he was able to get the support of the many peasant farmers he met across China.
October 1st, 1949 Establishment of Communism In China
On October 1,1949, Mao Zedong created and became Chairman of the people's Republic of China,the largest communist country in the world. After World War II, when Japan was forced to give back their conquered territories to China, the Civil War resumed between the Nationalist forces, also known as the KMT political party led by Chiang Kai Shek- against the CCP led by Mao Zedong.

Mao Zedong is the leader of the Communist Red Army of 100,000 troops. He became a member of the CCP - the Chinese Communist Party.Mao Zedong studied Marxist (communism) writings at Beijing University. He also grew up as a peasant farmer,but was wealthy enough to go to school.

Blue Area- In South Korea, is the area occupied with UN forces.

Ho Chi Minh
Ho Chi Minh was a Vietnamese Revolutionary leader, who was a prime minister and president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He was born on May 19,1890. And Ho Chi Minh died on September 2,1969. Ho Chi Minh studied at Communist University of the Toilers of the East from (1923-1925)
Korean War
Japanese control over Korea was replaced by Soviet and American presence split the country into two roughly equal parts at the 38th parallel, making separate communist North Korea & democratic South Korea.The U.S. feared that if all Korea became a communist nation, then other nations in Africa would become Communist as well. In June 1951, the 2nd phase of the Korean war happened// lasted for two years. Negotiations took place without much hope to end the war.
Vietnam War
Vietnam War was divided at 17 N latitude (17th parallel). Also when it was said that the North Vietnamese attacked U.S. navy ships. President Lyndon Johnson received support from U.S. congress to increase U.S. involvement in war.The Vietnam war was unpopular in the United Sates because of the large number of U.S. causalities and the draft of males into the armed fores. In 1976, North Vietnam untied both North & South Vietnam to form the socialist Republic of Vietnam. Vietnam remains a Communist country today.

No, containment of communism did't work. The main goal was to stop communism from spreading, but instead communism kept spreading.
