Threads and Knots
Following The Thread...
Are you pulling the thread or following it, have you tied useful knots or gotten all tangled? Artists are always working with ideas threads that lead them through a process. Sometimes that process takes us to the center of our labyrinth for a confrontation, and then that thread has to pull us back out.
In this weeks episode I discuss a bit about "the thread" and how the myth of Ariadne's Thread and Theseus's journey through the labyrinth to the Minotaur has been a metaphor for the creative process and an inspiration to artists. You can listen to the episode at the link below and discover some of the ways artists have been influenced by this famous myth through some of the other links on this page.

About Richard Carlyon
In this episode I mentioned one of the influential teachers in my life, Richard Carlyon. Here is a link about him and his artwork.
Quest Myths
Joseph Campbell has been a huge inspiration to me, here is a link to a lecture about quest myths. Our threads pull us towards quests and through the process. I think this lecture elaborates on some of the threads I was trying to pull in my episode. If you're curious I highly suggest checking out this and other lectures by Campbell on Spotify. As well as, Hero With 1000 Face, his book on the hero's journey.
Jung
I also mentioned Carl Jung as part of one of my threads. This is great introductory book to Jung's ideas...if you are interested.
