Jaguar Update
Sunset Valley Elementary - November 24, 2020
Flood's Flash
As was shared earlier this week, the district’s recommendation to move all students to a virtual environment follows a sharp increase in our district’s COVID-19 data in a short period of time. This data reflects a significant rise in cases in our local community, which is experiencing what public health officials are calling “uncontrolled” levels of transmission.
The Board of Education voted on Thursday, November 19th, to shift PreK-3 students into a virtual learning mode from Monday, November 23rd until Monday, January 11th. The Board and district administrators will convene on or around January 4th to review data from November and December to determine if students may return to in-person learning on January 11th. If data does not support the return, elementary virtual education will be extended until a target return date of January 25.
The Board’s decision on November 19th, does not impact the plans approved for our grades 4-12 learners on Tuesday, November 17th. Grades 4-12 will transition to a virtual learning model on Monday, November 23rd and remain in that model through January 21st. As we shared with you earlier this week, the learning model for grades 4-12 will be reevaluated on or around January 14th.
R-7 Online Academy’s specific schedules for our online students are not impacted by either board decision this week and current learning plans remain unchanged.
Best, Mrs. Rachel Flood

A few notes on protocols and health guidelines for LSR7
* Staff and students wear masks at all times unless we are taking a mask break while socially distanced.
* Students will hand wash and/or sanitize hands each time they leave and enter a new space. Ex: from classroom to art, from PE to recess, from classroom to lunch, etc. . .
* Classroom desks/tables will be sanitized each time students eat breakfast.
* Students will maintain consistent seating charts in classrooms, at lunch, in special class and students will have assigned line orders. These practices will help us should we need to contact trace.
* The schedule has been build with extra time in between recesses and special class so equipment and materials can be cleaned.
