Principal's Message
Happy Wednesday GMS Families.
This will be an early version of my typical newsletter and I'll be back to the norm next week. This week we were able to recognize our Chromebook Sticker winners from the month of January. Hybrid student received their small rewards on Wednesday and Remote Learning Academy students will have those delivered to their mailboxes next week. Just a reminder that we will not have school next Friday, February 12th as we have a District professional development day.
I hope that your kids enjoyed the snow day yesterday and took advantage of the opportunity to get outside. It looks like we have some cold weather coming in the near future, so stay warm and enjoy the rest of your week.
Thank you.
Andy

GMS Conferences
The first night of winter parent/teacher conferences will take place on Thursday, February 18th. These conferences are a way to further communication and support for students, and strengthening the partnership between GMS and home. For middle school conferences, we do not meet to discuss every student, but rather those that the school team feels would need additional pieces of support or for those students whose families have reached out with a need to conference. Team leaders will reach out directly to any student's family they would like to request a meeting with. If you wish to request a time slot, please work with the team leader to schedule a time that works for both parties. Please see the schedule below fo nights and times.
* Thursday, February 18th from 3:30 - 7:00 (Hybrid Only)
* Wednesday, February 24 from 4-7:30 (RLA only, this is a Karrer conference night, however since many of our RLA staff teach in both environments, we are sharing this event with KMS)
* Thursday, March 4th from 3:30 - 7:00 (Hybrid and RLA students)

Middle School Career Education Update
The week of February 22nd we are hosting 8th grade Career Week at all Dublin middle schools. There will be asynchronous activities each day to engage students in self-discovery, career exploration, and learning about pathway options. During this week, all students will participate in a career exploration assessment that will provide insight into potential future career paths. These paths will be linked to videos and activity options each day for the student (and their family) to explore. There will also be Family Lunch & Learn sessions offered on Friday the 26th. We will record these sessions and post for convenient viewing later. Please know that we have many people, processes, and learning opportunities in place to ensure you and your child will have support along the way to figuring out their path. Welcome Warehouse Information
Great news! The City of Dublin awarded Welcome Warehouse a grant from its Coronavirus Relief Fund. This grant will help families in the DCS district who are facing a financial crisis due to Covid-19.
If you know of a family having difficulty making ends meet, we may be able to lift a burden from their shoulders. Below are examples of bills we can help pay. Others would also be considered.
- Utilities bills (electric, gas, water, phone)
- Medical (special equipment, prescriptions etc)
- Transportation (bus passes, gas cards, car payment, insurance)
- Food (gift cards)
- No rent or mortgage assistance
Although we cannot help with mortgage or rent, Dublin Bridges was also awarded money from this same fund specifically for Covid related rent and mortgage assistance.
Attached HERE is the new application for Emergency Household Assistance.
As a reminder, Welcome Warehouse has a $700 limit or 3x in their lifetime request whichever comes first. Since you know the families best, we rely on you to make sure they are well vetted and have a true need. If so, please have the families submit the completed application AND a copy of their bill(s) to executivedirector@welcomewarehouse.org.
Together we can help DCS families in need.
