Adding Integers
When using the same signs add the absolute values and use the common sign ex. 3+5=8 or -3+(-5)=-8 When using different signs subtract the lesser absolute value from the greater absolute value. Then use the sign with the number with the greater absolute value. ex-7+10=-8.
Subtracting Integers
To subtract an integer add its opposite. 4-7= 4+(-7) = -3
3-(-2)= 3+2=5
Add the opposites by changing the - sign to + like 7 - (-3) =
7 + 3= 10
Multiplying Integers
The product of two positive integers is positive 3(5)=15
The product of two negative integer is positive -4(-6)=24
The product of a positive integer and a negative integer is negative 2(-8)=-16
Dividing Integers
Same signs - the quotient of two integers with the same sign is positive 15÷3=5
Different signs- the quotient of two integers with different signs is negative 12÷ -4=3
Zero- the quotient of zero and any nonzero integer is zero 0÷13=0
