Kansas Nebraska act
The Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854 created the territories of Kansas and Nebraska and opened new lands for settlement. Allowed the settlers to decide popular sovereignty whether or not to have slavery. There were many acts of violence during this time and started a summer of violence.
Five men were dragged out of their houses late one night. The one thing they had in common was they were pro slavery James brown the leader behind this act was anti-slavery. If being dragged out of their houses wasn’t embarrassing enough you haven’t heard the worst. They were killed stuck down with knives and killed in front of their families and friends. This act appears to have started a summer of violence. The men’s families are suffering a great deal of pain having to watch their husbands and fathers being killed.
