Speaking of being ENERGIZED...we are launching a charitable season for the spring!
As we prepare for the Lenten Season, we are dedicating ourselves to living our faith through multiple charitable events throughout February, March, and April. Each event targets specific areas: immediate (Marian Central), community (Woodstock), and global (Haiti). We are approaching each event in different ways, with the hopes that the end-result will promote the greatest charitable participation possible.
February 21st through March 6th: MC Jeep Raffle Ticket Sales Competition
The proceeds of this friendly competition will directly benefit Marian Central's financial aid program, allowing more students to make a Marian Central Catholic education a reality! See the segment below for more details!
March 6th through March 23rd: Hope for Haiti $ Drive
Our C.I.A. Club (Catholics in Action) will be sponsoring a 1st hour $$ Drive (much like the Christmas $$ Drive) to collect funds to benefit the Hope for Haitians project, that works to build safe villages, education systems, and clean water and healthcare access in Haiti (which is still rebuilding from Hurricane Matthew.) More information will be coming soon!
April 3rd - April 10th: Shelter from the Storm Service Project
Our 2nd Annual community-wide food drive for the Woodstock Food Pantry! Each NHS chapter from the high schools in Woodstock is partnering to facilitate this three-school service project in which every club and sport is encouraged to participate! More information will be coming soon!
This charitable season is a wonderful opportunity to encourage our students to roll up their sleeves and help make this world a better place!

Marian Central Wrestlers Advance to Semi-Finals at STATE COMPETITION!
Anthony Silva, Luke Silva, and Anthony Randazzo all qualified for STATE since our last newsletter! Anthony Silva was Runner Up at the Sectional tournament, while both Luke Silva and Anthony Randazzo were named Sectional Champions in their respective weight classes. The entire 1st floor classes, along with the pep band, came out to give our athletes a spirited CANES send-off this past Wednesday as they headed to the state competition.
Today, we learned that Anthony Randazzo and Luke Silva have advanced to the Semi-Finals at State! If you haven't already followed us on Twitter or "liked" us on Facebook - now's a great time to do that to check out the photos and videos we are able to post immediately to keep you updated!
The Pajama Game - FINAL TWO NIGHTS: Feb. 17th & 18th at 7:00 pm
Our spring musical's opening this past weekend of The Pajama Game was a SMASHING SUCCESS! Three packed performances brought singing, dancing, laughter, and love to our weekend. Plan a great night out, enjoy some quality live theater and support over 100 talented students who bring this joy to our school! From the pit orchestra to the tech crew to the actors on stage - this truly is the best school-wide collaboration to experience!
BOX OFFICE OPENS AT 6:15pm: If purchasing tickets at the door, please plan to arrive early to avoid the line! 6:15 - 6:30 arrival time is ideal to avoid the last minute rush for tickets!

Calling all SENIORS - It's BABY PHOTO TIME!
The Yearbook Staff is collecting your baby photos for inclusion in this year's Memorare. Detailed postcards are mailing out to all seniors, but here's the info:
WHAT: your baby photo (preferred 6 months - 2 years)
HOW: turn in the photo to your English instructor, making sure you have clearly printed your FULL NAME and English instructor's name on the back.
WHEN: all photos must be turned in by March 9th. The staff will carefully scan all photos and return them through your English class soon after that! Questions? Please email s. Gallagher at email@example.com
Speaking of Yearbooks...Have You Ordered Yours Yet?
It's not too late to order your 2016-2017 Yearbook! Books are $75 (checks payable to Marian Central) and the Yearbook staff will be sending home postcards to anyone who has not purchased a yearbook yet. Autograph inserts will be distributed in May to all who have purchased a book so be sure to secure your copy today! This year's Memorare theme is "Capture the Memories" and is already FILLED with great moments and award-winning inclusive coverage!

Financial Assistance Application Available Now
This year, the application for Marian tuition financial assistance must be completed entirely online. The deadline for this application is May 1st and notification will be sent mid-June. 2017-2018 Registration Happening Now!
Throughout February, we will be registering freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who have paid their registration fee for next year to help them select their tentative courses for next year. Please review the course selection information with them (distributed to all students during Feb. 1st homeroom) so the students are prepared with their choices for their electives and alternate courses, in case of scheduling conflicts, when they meet with the counselors.

You may have already seen them listed in our new Curriculum Guide, but we are thrilled to offer three new classes next year:
- INNOVATIVE DESIGN AND ENTREPRENEURIAL APPLICATIONS (IDEA) - H (Grades 11, 12 and 10, upon availability),
- HUMAN GEOGRAPHY - HONORS (Grade 9)
- THEATER 2 (Grades 10, 11, 12)

Registration Fees for 2017-2018 School Year
Registration fees for the 2017-2018 school year can be paid at this time, so be sure to do that as soon as possible! Beginning February 1st, Guidance will be registering current students who have paid the registration fee.
After February 10th, the registration fee is $250

College Admissions Info Night - February 23rd!
All Marian families and their students are welcome to attend this informational session hosted in our Auditorium at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Two college admission representatives are scheduled to speak about the admissions process in general, followed by a question/answer session. This year's speakers are Nate Bargar, Chicago Enrollment Center Coordinator, from the University of Cincinnati; and Julie Nelson, Midwest Regional Recruitment Director, from Xavier University.
