Simpson's Library Learning Commons
Time for Change
Simpson's LLC is in it's third year transitioning from a media center to a student-focused, flexible-spaced learning commons. We have taken a slow, well-thought out path as we have transitioned. Starting first by weeding our books to high interest fiction and non-fiction and genrifying our fiction collection. Next up was purchasing furniture to create a flexible whole group area. Over the last year, we've purchased five collaborative tables, a laptop cart of 30, new soft seating, and new student seating throughout. We've also created a MakerSpace, a Genius Bar, and independent work areas.

About Mrs. Voltz
Mrs. Voltz has been in education for 13 years. Starting first as a language arts teacher before finding her true calling helping students and teachers maximize their potential. She has attended numerous conferences including: GaETC, STEM Innovators Academy, AASL Annual Conference, and, in January, FETC. As part of her quest for ongoing learning, she attends at least one conference annually, and enjoys interacting with other teacher librarians on Twitter.
Working with kids to perfect papers, projects, or just find the perfect book is what motivates Mrs. Voltz daily. As changes are made in the learning commons, she works with both students and teachers to make sure this change is one that benefits them. She does have a messy desk. She is sorry for that.
