Gilbert Public Schools Family Newsletter - May 8, 2020
Dear GPS Parents and Families,
It is hard to believe that there are only a couple of weeks left until the official end of the school year. As we start to prepare for bringing the 2019/20 school year to a close it is important that we all consider what has been achieved under very difficult circumstances. Together, we have ensured that our children continue to be educated and cared for, with support from our GPS teachers and staff, and our incredible families and GPS community. Thank you for the important role you have played in achieving this for our children.
In this week's newsletters we have many updates and reminders, so please take a moment to review. Also, please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's teachers and administrators with any questions.
Be assured we are here for you and remain committed to providing support and learning for our students.
Shane McCord, Ed. D.

Class of 2020 Graduation Plans
The district has been communicating directly with our seniors as we prepare for graduation. Our goal is to ensure our seniors experience as complete of a graduation ceremony as possible while protecting the health and safety of our students, families, and staff. At Tuesday night's Governing Board meeting plans for 2020 Graduation were presented including:
Current plans to host a live-stream graduation ceremony to include footage of each student walking across the stage to receive their diploma.
The possibility of an optional modified graduation/celebration event in June 2020, following the state and CDC health and safety guidelines in place at that time.
Please view the presentation below or click here.
Quartz Hill Elementary alumni Cody Vasquez now at Campo Verde, joined QH Third Grade Cub Council Representative to record their weekly third-grade fun fact video!

Transportation Reminder for 2020/21 School Year
Families of Students Grandfathered into Former Boundaried Schools:
This is a reminder that the Grandfathered Bus Routes and Bus Stops created for one year only will be discontinued for school year 2020-2021 and beyond. There is an ongoing commitment, however, to continue to allow an automatic open enrollment to your former boundaried school until all of your children graduate from Gilbert Public Schools. We thank you for your understanding regarding this decision as we continue to drive greater efficiencies in GPS Transportation so that monies can be maximized into our classrooms and schools.
