Mr. Toucan helping out!
Mr. Toucan, a student in Ellen Dischinger's class, helped organize my socks this week. For his efforts, he earned $1, which went into his money tray that students keep tabs on. This imaginary math experience actually gave me reason to organize my socks, which turned into about a 45 minute family affair!
Zero Day
As you know, this is the first year that we've done a Zero Day as part of our digital day calendar. I would love to get your feedback on how this is going. If you have a moment, please submit your feedback via this short form.
Staff Meeting and Late Start Meeting
A Staff Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 15 at 8:00am in the Information Classroom. At this meeting, we will begin watching the documentary "Love them first: Lessons from Lucy Laney Elementary."
We will finish the documentary the next day during our Late Start meeting at 8:15 am in the Information Classroom. This will go towards the Cultural Competency component for relicensure.
Den Day
Our next Den Day is scheduled for Thursday, January 16 from from 2:15pm - 2:45 pm. The plan for the day will be sent out early in the week.
PTO DJ Dance Night
The party happens on Thursday, January 16 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the gymnasium. Special guest dancers from House of Dance. Don’t be late, they will be starting off the party!
Staff Winter Party
Our Winter Party will take place on Friday, January 24th after school. A separate email will be sent with the details.
Celebration of Cultures Event postponed
We are going to postpone our Celebration of Cultures event that was scheduled for Thursday, February 5th. There is a group of staff members who will be out of town at a conference at that time, and because this event relies so heavily on staff volunteers, we thought it would be best to move to a different date. It is also a good time to re-evaluate the event and think of other ways to structure it. For the past few years, attendance has been declining at this event (and we aren't alone, other schools have expressed a similar trend), so it is important to ensure we are purposeful and thoughtful about what we are doing. Stay tuned for a planning meeting invite to come, in which I hope many can attend to contribute their input and feedback.
