A Note from Mrs. Johansen
Dear Sandburg Families,
It's hard to believe that February is upon us and we are three weeks into the 3rd quarter. Have you checked in with your child about grades, missing assignments, and upcoming projects? Now would be good time to do this as midterm will be just around the corner!
The district has shared, that due to a bus driver shortage, we are moving to an adjusted time schedule on February 23, 2022. Here are the details you need to know:
Remember the below times BEGIN ON FEBRUARY 23!
- Arrival supervision begins at 7:20.
- Instruction begins at 7:35 am.
- Our new bell schedule is posted below.
District 15 online registration starts tomorrow, February 1, 2022. Please visit this link to register for the 2022-2023 school year. All parents need to do this so you can see class schedules, teacher information, and transformation information from Infinite Campus in August 2022.
Have a great week!
Erika Johansen

American Heart Challenge is Coming Up!
We’re launching the American Heart Challenge in PE, and we are so excited! Join our school by signing up to support the American Heart Association. Students can improve their own heart health while helping kids who were born with heart defects and people of all ages with heart disease and stroke. Leading up to our event, we will have health lessons in hands only CPR, heart attack and strokes, vaping, nutrition, and moving more.
We will have our wear RED day on Feb 17.
Register online now under our school (Sandburg) Our goal is to get everyone signed up for the free challenge! Let’s do this!
• Download the American Heart Challenge app or visit heart.org/AHC to register.
• Select a personal health challenge.
• Personalize your page and send emails, texts, or post on social media to invite to start fundraising now to change lives!
• See attachments for fundraising incentives.
Thank you in advance for your support,
Carl Sandburg PE Department
5Essentials Survey is here!
You have been invited to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey. The information you provide will help guide improvement as we strive to inspire each student to realize their potential. Your participation in this survey is voluntary but crucial. We can’t receive results from the survey unless at least 20 percent of parents respond. The more responses parents provide, the more we will know how to focus our efforts toward the improvements you want. Please help us reach our goal by completing the survey.
· Go to: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois to take the survey.
· Select “Parent Survey.”
· You may enter your email address if you would like to receive confirmation of your submission, but it is not required.
· Then enter “Cook” into the county field and “Carl Sandburg” to find our school. Be sure to select Carl Sandburg Junior High at 2600 Martin Lane in Rolling Meadows.
You will then be asked a series of questions to provide input regarding your family’s experience here at Carl Sandburg. Please remember to click “submit” once you are done so your responses can be counted.
Please know that your identity and responses will be kept confidential and will not be connected with your child. If you have multiple children who attend Lincoln, you may complete one survey for each child. However, only one parent per household may submit a survey for a given child. The survey closes on March 11, so please submit your responses soon!
Thank you in advance for your time and input. We appreciate you!
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact 5Essentials Customer Support at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.
Submitting Your Student's Vaccination Card
This documentation is very important during our contact tracing efforts. Families will continue to be notified if a student is identified as a close contact so they are aware to monitor for potential symptoms.
