Steam Powered Inventions During the 1800s

George Henry Corliss' Engine

George's take on the steam engine was the most efficient during the 1800s because of it's great horsepower compared to the others made in that era. It had newly added features that people had been wanting for awhile.

The Steam Boat

Before steamboats, Americans had flatboats and barges to transport their goods. Now the newly invented steam boat was not only able to carry goods quicker and more efficient but was now able to carry passengers up and down the river as well. Previously a trip from New Orleans to Louisville would take about 2-3 months, now it could range anywhere from 25-30 days!

My Reaction

This project was a great learning experience because I love this time period in history, it's one of my favorites and I've done so many other projects on it but never about steam powered inventions. Getting to learn and read about all of this has added greatly to my knowledge and I hope to learn more.
