The following expectations for parents and students are in place when coming to JHS to return or pick-up materials:
- Please wear a face covering when picking up or returning student materials.
- Follow COVID-19 preventative practices as advised by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Please stay in your vehicle. Follow the curbside process provided below.
- Please do not come to the campus if you have been ill, if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, or if you are currently under isolation/quarantine orders.
Process for Collection and Return of Student Items on 5/22 and 5/26:
During this process, all Jasper Staff will be following safety protocols and practicing social distancing. Masks and gloves will be worn when collecting/distributing materials.
Students and families will not be granted entrance into the building. All students and passengers will need to remain in their vehicles and open their trunks or provide access to their backseats at the assigned station. All interactions will be conducted curbside; we will need the ability to communicate through vehicle windows.
Curbside pick-up and collection will occur on Friday, May 22nd, and Tuesday, May 26th from the times of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. To select your time please go to https://tinyurl.com/jhseoy. In order to assist with traffic flow, please arrive during your scheduled time.
This process will occur on the south side of Jasper High School in the carpool lane. Please refer to the map below and follow the signs directing traffic. Signs and cones will be utilized for entrances/exits and to direct vehicles to specific stations. Please follow the direction of Jasper staff members while on campus to assist with the flow of traffic.
We ask that each vehicle have a sign with the Student Name and ID #. Please have this taped to the passenger side window and in a large, dark font to make it easy for staff to read from the curb as you pull up to the station. You may use this template if you wish.
Families have the option of turning in Chromebooks at this time or holding them until the week of July 23rd to allow for summer school and other at-home learning opportunities. All families who picked up a Chromebook are asked to complete THIS FORM to indicate whether they will be returning the device at this collection or on July 24th. Families transferring out of PISD or Jasper HS boundaries must return Chromebooks no later than May 26th.
In an effort to make the process efficient for all, please make sure that any items you need to return to the campus are placed in the trunk or rear of your vehicle. Please prepare them as follows:
Textbooks, Library Books, English Novels, and Calculators: Clearly label each item with Student Name and ID# on a piece of paper or sticky note. Not sure if you owe a library book? Check here!
Chromebooks: Wrap cord and place with Chromebook. Clearly label the Chromebook and cord with the Student Name and ID# on a piece of paper or sticky note.
Choir Uniform: Ensure that all pieces are intact and place inside of assigned garment bag. Clearly label the bag with Student name and ID#. Girls - dress on hanger; Guys - include tux pants on hanger, tux jacket on hanger, cummerbund, & bow tie (do not return tux shirt or shoes). All items may be returned dirty - no cleaning necessary.Students that need to pick up art projects and supplies will proceed to the north side of the campus and meet the art staff in order to collect requested items.
Student belongings have been collected from lockers and placed in individual bags and labeled with the student’s name. Any student belongings that are left behind over the summer will be donated or destroyed.
Extracurricular Programs Item Return
Athletics, Drill Team, Cheerleading, Band, Orchestra, and JROTC
If your student participates in any of the programs above, there will be a separate time for them to return uniforms, instruments, and other items. (Note: Pickup of locker contents will take place during the campus-wide process described above.)
The process for these returns could take more time to document and ensure the students are returning all of their materials, therefore we want to provide adequate time.
Sponsors for each group will be in charge of facilitating this process and will be in contact with the students in these programs to share specific information.
Medication Pickup
Medication pickup will take place with Nurse Dottie on Tuesday, May 19th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
If your student has over the counter pain relievers, allergy medicine or other 'as needed' medicine in the clinic, and you want to pick it up, please email dottie.jordan@pisd.edu before 5/18/20.
If you plan to pick up any medicine on Tuesday, 5/19/20:
- drive to the north entrance of the building (by the flagpole), stop at the portico, and open your trunk.
- Have your student's name written in bold print on a sheet of paper and hold it up to the window on the front passenger side of the car.
- A paper bag with your student's name and enclosed medicine will be placed in your trunk or the back seat of your car by the nurse.
