FALL BACK SPRING FORWARD
MUSIC NOTES - 3rd GRADE RECORDERS
After spring break the 3rd grade will start learning how to read music and play recorders. Parents - look for a letter coming home with more information about renting or purchasing recorders so your student can practice at home and be more successful. Students should bring home a packet of music to practice from as well. Recorders are a wonderful way to figure out if your student would enjoy playing an instrument in band, so start thinking now about what instrument your student would enjoy. Please let Mrs. Hardman know if you have any questions.

Family movie night, April 6th. Look for a flyer with more information coming home after Spring break!
NURSE RX
As the school year is coming to an end some of the students who are moving on to Middle School are now in need of vaccines. Please watch for documentation coming home with your child showing what vaccines are due. If these vaccines are not done then your child will not be able to start school in the fall.
The nurse is also continuing with health screenings and you might be notified for referrals for vision, hearing, and/or dental.
On another note please do not send over the counter medications to school with your child. We have children here at school that are allergic to multiple over the counter medications. These medications include any medication that can be purchased without a prescription from the medical provider.
If you have any questions please call nurse Moore at 892-9705 or e-mail at: Nancy.Moore@matsuk12.us.
Have a safe spring break and I hope that your children return to school rested and healthy to finish the rest of the school year.
ALASKA'S PEAKS TESTING APRIL 3-6
Performance Evaluation for Alaska’s Schools (PEAKS) is a statewide assessment administered to students in grades 3-5 at our school. It is designed to measure our students’ understanding of Alaska’s English Language Arts and Math Standards. 4th Grade will also be taking the Science test to measure their understanding of Alaska’s Science Standards.
Big Lake Elementary will be administering the paper and pencil form of the assessment. Attached to this newsletter is a flyer explaining the importance of PEAKS assessments. If you have any questions concerning this testing please contact the school at 892-9700.
