Dear Parents,

The Fall 2015 Bryan ISD Parent Survey can be accessed at I encourage you to all take the survey. This information is very helpful as we strive to meet the needs of you and your children. The survey can also be accessed by clicking on the Bryan ISD link at the bottom of this message.

We had an amazing week last week. Our student council’s officers and sponsors were up early on Wednesday morning delivering food to the KBTX Food for Families Food Drive. The PTO’s PJs with Santa event and kindergarten performance on Thursday night were hugely successful. We ended the week with over 30 students joining us for Parents Night Out on Friday night from 6:30-9:30. Thank you to everyone who helped make these events so successful.

Please join me in welcoming our new third grade math teacher Mrs. Dalene Anderson to her first day at Mitchell Elementary. Mrs. Anderson will be available to meet with parents in CS2000 after morning meeting until 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday and after school on Thursday in CS2000 from 3:05 until 4:00.

Tonight we will kick off our Watch D.O.G.S. program with a pizza dinner and presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Those men interested in serving as a Watch D.O.G. need to complete the Bryan ISD volunteer form and be approved prior to their first day of volunteering. The online volunteer form can be found at There will be other opportunities to select a day to volunteer for men who can’t make it on the 15th. Information about the national program can be found at

I’m sure your children have reminded you already, but in case they haven’t, school will be closed from December 21st through January 4th. We will reopen to students on Tuesday, January 5th.

Looking ahead, we are postponing the third six weeks honor roll awards and first semester attendance awards by one day to better fit with our daily schedule. The calendar on the next page shows the updated days.

We now have a Giving Tree on one of the walls in the Kinder Corner. Please stop by, pull off a leaf, and fill a classroom’s need.

Please see the next page for a calendar of upcoming events.

Have a happy, safe, and relaxing winter break and we will see you again on January 5th.
