The Tiger Times
From the Principal
Dear Mohawk Families,
Beginning on April 18th, students will be taking the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP). Elementary students in grades 3-5 will be assessed on Michigan’s current content standards in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, science, and social studies. All students in grades 3-5 will take the ELA and Math test. Fifth grade will also take a science and social studies test. These tests will be given online.
It is imperative that students are present for these tests. CVVA students will need come into the building to take the test. See the M-STEP testing calendar below and review the information in the M-STEP Smore for parents. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments on testing days. We are dedicated to improving in all areas of the curriculum and use this data to drive our instruction. We maintain high academic standards so your child with receive the best education.
I want to thank you for all of your continued support this year. I can't express to you enough how much I love our Mohawk Community and how thankful I am to be a part of it. I hope you have an enjoyable spring break and I look forward to the next few weeks as we head toward the end of the year.
Ms. Andrea Verellen

Here are three ways your family, friends and co-workers can help our school.
1. Make a 100% tax deductible donation to your child's classroom with the purchase of a CaringForClassrooms.org gift card for your child's teacher to use for classroom supplies and equipment.
2. Shop online at The Family Book Store for wrapping paper, magazines, popcorn, cookbooks and more. We earn up to 50% of their purchase.
3. Shop online with over 400 major merchants like Walmart, Kohls, Best Buy, Disney, and more. We earn a small percentage of their purchase.
