The Winds Around The World

By Isack

Local Winds

Local winds are winds that are between shorter distances. There are different breezes like land breezes and sea breezes. The sea breezes blow towards the land and the land breezes blow towards the sea.

Similarities Between the Winds

Both the winds have unequal heating. Also, Both global, and local winds blow in areas around the world.

Global Winds

Global winds blow between longer distances. They also occur when there is an unequal amount of heating. Unlike local winds, the global winds have only one type of breeze. They don't have both the land and sea breeze.

Other Winds Around the World Within the Global Winds

  • Doldrums:These are wind patterns near the equator where the wind is very weak, It's like the horse latitude
  • Trade Winds: These are winds that were used by the sailors in the earlier years to sail across the ocean to other countries
  • Jet Streams: Jet streams are fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the upper atmosphere or in troposphere of some planets
  • Prevailing Easterlies: The polar easterlies are the dry, cold prevailing winds that blow from the high-pressure areas of the polar highs at the north and south poles towards low-pressure areas within the Westerlies at high latitudes.
