Principally speaking
This week was a shorter week due to having Monday off, our kindergarten students took our iReady assessment this week. Next Monday we will welcome families and students to Lincoln for curriculum night/Open house. Like last year students are welcome and will each be given a bingo card to guide families around Lincoln, meeting several staff members and also highlighting routines and procedures from their classrooms. Next week, we will have our first townhall of this year. Again students will be placed in multi-age groups with a staff member. We are highlighting and developing skills related to the district's strategic plan and core values of belonging, perseverance and achievement. Our first month during our assembly students were introduced to an activity highlighting attention and sustaining attention. This month our townhall will focus on task initiation. Please look for the home school connection, and ask your son or daughter about what they learned. Also on Monday, Ms. Wollak created a survey to gauge parent interest in executive functioning skills, this will help us determine areas of interest. Please take the time to take this survey when you are here Monday evening.

GOTR is committed to ensuring the program remains accessible and equitable for all. Parent Education Sessions
District 303 is pleased to present its lineup of Parent Education sessions for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Parent Education series (formerly Parent University) includes informational meetings and workshops intended to empower parents and guardians to support their children’s academic, social and emotional needs. Become informed on specialized topics, engage in two-way dialogue with speakers and fellow parents, and become a support resource for others.
Sessions for this school year will focus on bullying prevention, addressing anxiety, and include film screenings and discussions about the impact of screen time and cultural awareness. The schedule also includes college preparation workshops hosted by our high schools. Sessions were selected based in part on feedback from District 303 parents.
Explore the full lineup of sessions here. Signup forms for each session will be made available closer to the session dates. New this year, you can also register for Parent Education notifications and receive alerts as new information and session recaps become available.

In D303, we value the opportunity to provide a community of care and support to our families, especially those faced with financial hardship.
If your family is currently experiencing a significant financial need, our community partnerships have several supports available for families including: school clothes/shoes, winter coats/accessories, school supplies, toiletries, holiday meals, and/or holiday gifts. If you would like to be considered for any of these supports, please complete the Family Resource Form by September 1, 2023.

During this transition back to school, please remember that your child should be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication. Your child must not vomit or have diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication. It is important that if your child is ill that they stay home. Some of our Leopards are lacking a healthy immune system and are susceptible to serious illness.
As your school nurse, I am happy to collaborate in treating asthma and implementing an asthma action plan. This also applies if your child tends to wheeze when they get ill and require albuterol. Here are the links to the asthma history form, medication consent, and asthma action plan. A healthy child is a child capable of learning!
I look forward to getting to know your child! I have more than 20 years of inpatient pediatric experience, so your child is in good hands! If you have any changes to your child’s medical or medication history please contact me with this update! I am available if you have any questions or concerns! I also have a variety of resources available.
Thank you for your time!!
