Back to School Picnic
Part of my opening message in the September newsletter focused on getting the students here on time each morning. For the most part, TJ families have done a much better job and I want to thank you for your continued efforts. It makes a difference for the students and the teacher when the day begins and everyone is at their desk ready to learn. Thank you parents.
The school year has been off to a great start and now we have started bringing back some of the great activities we have offered to students in the past. Our PTA sponsored a great Back to School Picnic a few weeks ago and we are going to once again have a Halloween party and parade. More specific information will be sent to parents closer to Halloween, but here is some basic information about the activities we have planned at the end of the month.
All District 15 students and staff will participate in a fall-themed week the last week of October (Monday 10/25 - Friday, October 29). Details will be shared with all schools soon.
In addition, on Friday, October 29, we will celebrate Halloween by having a parade and the teachers will have classroom parties.
The parade will be in the MORNING and students will need to wear their Halloween costumes to school.
We encourage simple costumes that can be worn over clothes and removed easily and independently if needed. If students choose to bring their costumes to school, they need to be able to independently put it on in the classroom. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no changing in bathrooms this year.
- Costume masks that cover the face are not allowed. (However, students are expected to wear a face covering mask to school each day.)
- No violent costumes/fake weapons, or costumes with fake blood are allowed.
- Costume make-up is allowed as long as it does not cover the student's entire face. Staff members must be able to identify students.
- There will be a morning Halloween parade for AM Kindy and grades 1-6.
PTA Room Parents will provide an activity for each classroom to do on Friday. Unfortunately, there will be no volunteers or visitors in classrooms again this year on Halloween. Finally, remember that there is no food at CCSD15 Halloween parties.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the school. 847.963.5400.

NEW GUIDANCE FOR COVID-19 EXCLUSION
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) just came out with new guidance on COVID-19 Interim Exclusion. If you child has COVID-like symptoms, you have two options: You can have your child take the COVID PCR test and give the nurse a copy of a negative test result, or keep your child home for 10 days.
Schools can no longer accept an alternative diagnosis from a Doctor (new).
If you have any questions about this guidance, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

TJ's Fall Festival
We hope you can attend the TJ Fall Festival Fundraiser. It is going to be a blast. There will be an electric train, petting zoo, Mr. Johnson's Obstacle Course, fall-themed games, and a GLOW Dance Party?!?
Please keep those pre-registration and pumpkin pre-order forms coming in! Your early-bird registration really helps us prepare for this amazing event, and of course ensures we have enough pumpkins on site for those who want them! Not to forget, when you order your admission wrist-bands early, you save money! All proceeds from admission and pumpkin sales go directly to supporting the PTA and all the great things we get to do for the students, staff, and school!
Our PTA has also lined up Go Doggy Run food vendor to be selling yummy food on site, and she will be donating a portion of her proceeds to the PTA as well, so come hungry!
Can't make it to this event on October 15, but still want to support the PTA in our Fall Fundraiser? The form includes an option to submit a one-time donation to the TJ PTA.
Event Details: Friday, October 15 from 4-7pm at TJ

Many thanks to our amazing TJ Community!

Update from Nutrition Services
Due to supply chain issues, we are unable to serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at our schools. We hope to have them back in stock soon, but in the meantime, we will be serving Protein Power Packs so students will have a vegetarian option.
We know many families print off their menus for the month. Please note that if we have to change an offering due to the shortage, we will update menus online each Friday so families will know if there are any changes for the following week. Please check regularly if your child has a favorite that may be in short supply
