Guest Speaker: Hannah Wright, Global Citizenship Fellow

Topic: UNICEF Services to Children Worldwide.

Hannah Wright is a Global Citizenship Fellow for UNICEF. The United Nations Children's Fund works for children's rights, survival, development and protection. Be part of our mission. UNICEF is working toward the day when ZERO children die from preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood. She will be discussing the importance of clean water, education and immunizations of children worldwide.

Texas FFA State Leadership Development Event

Weatherford FFA members traveled to Sam Houston State University this past week to compete in the Texas FFA State Leadership Development Event (LDE) competitions. Students have been working hard and studying for this contest since mid-September. To advance to the state contest teams competed in and advanced from two other elimination rounds at the district and area level.

Freshman, Jade Hebbert, wowed the judges and finished second place in Greenhand Creed Speaking out of 689 students statewide. Job Interview contestant, Waylon Widler, took ninth place in his heat and was in the top 20 of the state. There were 545 FFA students who competed in the Job Interview contest. The Public Relations team consisting of members Abby Davis, Avery Shifflett, and Aleesha Barrett were also named top 20 in the state out of 403 teams. (pictured below)

News from the WHS International Thespian Society

On December 3-5, our International Thespian Society Troupe #3042, made it's first trip to the Texas Thespian Convention. There were over 6,300 students and teachers in attendance at the Omni and Dallas Convention Center. The biggest convention to date. We are only allowed to enter into 6 Individual Events.

We entered in the following categories:

All of these students did a great job and represented WHS with pride. We did qualify in 2 events to go to Nationals in Lincoln, Nebraska in June.

Last Week to Buy Kangaroo Christmas Ornaments

Weatherford High School Cheerleaders are selling Christmas ornaments to carry the ROO Pride into the Christmas season. Limited edition Christmas Ornaments are shimmery silver shatter-proof plastic with the school logo in blue. Find a WHS Cheerleader or contact to purchase a limited edition ornament to decorate your holiday tree for $10.00 each.

If you were lucky enough to purchase one last year, these will be a nice addition to your collection. They will be sold until they are gone or until this coming Friday.
