From the Principal

Good Afternoon Monroe Families!

As you hopefully heard in the phone call from me earlier today, the fire alarm went off at Monroe Elementary. We evacuated the building. It was due to a repair being done on the fire pump. Once the reason for the alarm was identified, students returned back into the building for learning.

On Thursday, we celebrated the 100th day of school. For those of you who haven’t been in an elementary setting, the 100th day is a big deal! Our students celebrated the 100th day of school with a lot of learning revolving around 100. The students were so excited!

Step throat is going around at school. It has been in various grade levels. If your child is complaining of a sore throat, please assess their symptoms.

Gen RX

Larry Newton, from Madison County Prevention, came to present Generation Rx to 3rd and 4th grade classes at Monroe. Larry Newton is in the National Guard and serves on the Drug Prevention Task Force. GenRx is offered through a partnership between the Cardinal Health Foundation and The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. The educational program includes engaging, hands-on activities that focus on teaching safe medication practices. Students played a game where they identified candy vs. medicine through pictures. They were educated on the importance of asking an adult before taking medication, or ingesting something found outside of a package.

Safety Talks This Week

This week, Officer Flowers from the Plain City Police Department came to share safety information with our students. Second grade students learned about gun safety. Third grade students learned about seatbelt safety. Fourth grade students learned about internet safety.

3rd Grade Light Experiment

This week our third grade students studied light through Science Experiments.
