Hello Jackson Families!

Happy First Day of Fall! Even though you can't tell it from the temperature outside today, cooler weather may not be that far away. The weather should also be perfect for the Fall Picnic this Friday evening, 9/25. Come out and join other Jackson families from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Jackson Park/Playground. Bring a picnic dinner and get together with friends, visit with parents and teachers, and enjoy games and activities. Spiritwear and Kona Ice will be available for sale. Hope to see you there!

The school-wide PTA membership drive began on Monday and Second Grade is in the lead! The grade levels are competing against each other for a 45 minute free recess monitored by the Principal and myself! We are tracking progress in the hallway next to the library until October 21. Parents, teachers, adult family members and community members can join by going to the Jackson PTA website, http://jacksonpta.com. When you join the PTA, everyone's a winner!

Visit us at http://Jacksonpta.com or "Like" us on Facebook to view the latest updates for events and school happenings.

This year the Jackson PTA will also send a monthly eNewsletter with additional information. To receive the eNewsletter, simply login to the site and accept the terms & conditions for electronic communications.

Students are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. This year's theme is "Let Your Imagination Fly." Interested students should see their teacher for official guidelines and entry forms. All projects are due by October 28 to the student's homeroom teacher. Reflections Flyer - http://elist.pisd.edu/eNews/S_Reflections_2015-2016_Jackson_Flyer_Eng_Sp.pdf

Picture Day is Coming!!!

Individual portraits will be made for each student at school on Thursday, October 1, 2015. This is the photograph that will appear in the year book. Reasonably priced packages are available for parents to purchase. Photographs make wonderful keepsakes for grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. They also make great holiday gifts. Please complete the form your child brought home this week and return it to school or you can purchase your photograph package online at https://MYLIFETOUCH.COM using Jackson Elementary Picture Day ID: DO205102Q0. Additional forms are available in the Jackson Office for your convenience.

Please take a moment to read the latest Jackson after-school Carpool Guidelines and Transportation Change Requests attached. http://elist.pisd.edu/eNews/0101_48_carpool_info2.pdf

Morning carpool suggestions:

  1. Please drive on the right side of the double lane driveway only. Cars should not attempt to unload on the left lane of the drive through.
  2. Walkers should walk to the crosswalk provided at the end of the drive. It is unsafe for students to cross through the moving carpool lanes.
  3. Please pull all the way forward to the next available Safety Patrol student. We have many students eager and ready to enter the building, and the carpool line moves quickest when all cars move forward.
  4. The parking lot is reserved for those who need to park and enter the building. Please do not use the parking lot as a drop off area.
  5. Be patient and respectful. We will move cars through the carpool lane as quickly and efficiently as possible!

Parents can find bus route information on the following site:
