Calculator Donations
The Learning Commons has a collection of calculators which have been left at school by former students and never reclaimed. We created a plan to lend these devices to students who may not be able to obtain their own calculator. Many of the units are showing wear and a few no longer work at all. We are hopeful to restock our supply through donations and are especially in need of TI-83 and TI-84 graphing calculators. If you have a graduating senior or a student no longer taking math classes requiring a graphing calculator, please consider donating your unused devices for use by other students. These units will be added to our collection for checkout and returned at the end of each year. Any donations can be labeled for the Learning Commons and left at the West Door Security Office or dropped off in the Learning Commons. Thank you for your consideration.

ARTS & ACTIVITIES
New: EVHS Speech - NCFL Nationals Results
Last weekend, members of the Eastview Speech Team competed at the National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL) Grand National Speech and Debate Tournament. Though this year's event was to be held in Minneapolis this year, it was held virtually given CDC guidelines.
Despite its name, the NCFL Grand National Tournament draws top competition from both public and private schools throughout the country. With this year's 2,316 entries hailing from 36 different states, this was the largest event in the organization's history, but Eastview Speech rose to the occasion. This tournament only allows each student to enter one event of competition; despite that, Eastview had three students (in two entries) make it to the final round of competition (an extraordinary feat). And, every single EVHS student advanced to elimination rounds.
Congratulations to the following students for their exceptional performances, and to their coaches - Todd Hering, Brady Beckman, and Alana Pixler!:
Hanna Olson & Thor Reimann: 3rd Place, Duo Interpretation (out of 132 entries).
Faye Zhang: 6th Place, Extemporaneous Speaking (out of 253 entries).
Morgan Oksendahl: Quarterfinalist, Dramatic Performance (top 24 out of 274 entries)
Ella Erdahl: Octafinalist, Dramatic Performance (top 72 out of 274 entries)
Rhea Rajvansh: Octafinalist, Extemporaneous Speaking (top 60 out of 253 entries)
Thank you to EVHS coaches Brady Beckman and Billy Rannells for helping to fulfill our judge obligation to allow each of our entries to compete. With their results, EVHS competitors placed within the top ten schools at this tournament. Congratulations, competitors and coaches!
New: EVHS Spanish Trip to Ecuador - Summer 2022
The Eastview High School Spanish department is excited to offer its Spanish students an opportunity to travel to Ecuador for an 11-day language immersion program during June 2022. This trip is predicated on COVID travel restrictions being lifted by next summer. The trip is open to any students who have completed Spanish 2 by the time of travel. We are partnering on this program with Xperitas, a nonprofit organization that has been organizing authentic language immersion experiences like this for almost fifty years.
Please complete the attached Google form if you are interested in receiving more information about the program. The Early Bird Deadline has been extended until June 30.
New: EVHS Choir to Sing the National Anthem
We are excited to announce that the Eastview Choir has been invited to sing the National Anthem before the Sept. 14 Twins game as they take on division rival, Cleveland, at Target Field. It's a Tuesday evening game the second week of the school year. Students must have a ticket to perform (order form is below) and they need their own transportation, so we are encouraging students to invite family and friends. Tickets are $10 and seating is in the outfield (you may purchase your own seats if you wish...but the singer should still fill out this form so I know they will be singing). Please place your ticket order before the end of June! All students in choir next year are invited to sing.
