Hillcrest Elementary School
First Day Procedures
Tuesday, September 4th will be the first day of school for ALL Hillcrest Students. School will begin promptly at 9:10 AM. Students may be dropped off at Hillcrest beginning at 8:50 AM. Please note that supervision is not available before 8:50 AM. During arrival ALL 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students should report to the cafeteria. All 4th, 5th and 6th grade students should report to the gym. AM Kindergarten students should report directly to their Kindergarten classroom.
PARENT DROP-OFF
To alleviate confusion and separation anxiety we are requesting that parents who are bringing their children say their goodbyes prior to entering the building. Parents will not be permitted to walk beyond the lobby DURING ARRIVAL. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Be assured that we will have all staff on hand to support your child(ren) during arrival. New and younger students will be escorted by a Hillcrest staff member to their designated meeting area.
DISMISSAL
FIRST DAY BUSSING/TRANSPORTATION
Bussing information is available for view through the Home Access Center. The Transportation Department recommends that you re-visit HAC a few days before the start of school, in the event that pick-up/drop-off time changes occurred. Information on how to access the HAC can be found on the District & Hillcrest Home Pages. Please contact the Transportation Department with questions or concerns regarding Transportation at 215-944-1010.
VISITORS
For parents and other visitors, entry into our school buildings will require the production of a driver’s license or other form of photo identification. This identification will be used in our access system (RAPTOR) to validate identification before a visitor enters the school building. Once the driver’s license is scanned, the system will print out a badge that includes the name and picture of the visitor, destination and the date/time of the visit. Visitors who do not present their driver’s license/identification will not gain entry into the building.
TRANSPORTATION/CHILD CARE ARRANGEMENTS
Be sure to communicate with your child’s homeroom teacher regarding transportation changes. Currently, all HCE students are assigned district bussing. This information is communicated to us directly from our Transportation Department. However, if your child will not be following this dismissal procedure it is IMPERATIVE that you contact your child’s homeroom teacher before or on the first day of school. This would include daycare arrangements (i.e. Champions). Although we are collaborative, please note that these agencies are separate entities and are not employed by the Council Rock School District. As a result, it is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that teachers are made aware of these changes in daily routines.
