Science: Crayfish
By Owen and Lawrence
Today you will be learning about scientific structures of crayfish. Some structures of crayfish are pincers, leg joints, eyes, outer shell all help it survive. On Thursday we watched a video on adaptations and after we worked with partners. We studied cards with different animals and plants and wrote down the adaptations. We get to have crayfish in our classroom and we get to observe the crayfish's structures and how they work and how they protect themselves. We also got to pick them up, crayfishes are crustaceans. A crustacean is when the hard skeleton is on the outside of their body, a lobster is an example of a crustacean. Well, I hope you learned a lot about what we did in science this week

Math
By: Aaniya and Emleyn
In math this week, we started to learn about fractions. We made some tools to help us learn fractions.
Fraction circles-pieces
We used fraction circles to look at different size wholes.
We had to figure out how we can divide the whole into halves, thirds, fourths, etc. We used different pieces to be the whole. We might use a quarter of a circle to make the whole and then find other pieces to cover the whole.
2. Fraction strips
We usually use fraction strips to compare fractions. We can lay one fraction strip under another one and see how much of it takes up the top one or bottom one. We can also see like if ⅙ can be half Of ⅓. Fraction strips can also help us with dividing a number line.
3.Fraction cards
Fraction cards usually help with see equivalent fractions. We can compare the fractions on the front and see what fractions are on the back. We can also use them to compare fractions like 4 out of 6 compared to 3 out of 8. We can see how much of a circle is shaded in and there's also a mini fraction number line on the bottom.
4. Fraction number line
Fraction number lines can really help you. Like you can easily see and tell if if one fraction is equivalent to another. If you draw a line down the middle of a whole bunch of fraction number lines with different denominators you can see which ones are equivalent.
Well that's all about our helpful fraction tools. We can tell you more in the next s’more.
