MISSION STATEMENT:
At Montclair WE strive to prepare students for future success by providing a healthy and safe environment where all students can be challenged, supported and engaged.
Leverty Letter
Dear Montclair Families,
First I wanted to thank the community for their patience with regards to our physical education program. We recognize the challenges having to pivot as new faces appear to support our students, and we also recognize the admiration that students develop for their teachers. I know that many of you have been thinking about Mr. David McKay, as he has been on leave, and he is thankful for your well wishes. With a heavy heart, I wanted to inform the community that Mr. McKay has decided to retire from the Beaverton School District, and will no longer be Montclair’s PE Teacher. We want to thank Mr. McKay for the years of service he provided our community and the wonderful programs he employed to motivate and teach students how to remain physically fit. Mr. McKay brought Marathon Kids to Montclair many years ago and was able to enlist the support of willing parents to “get kids running”. He partnered with the American Heart Association and introduced students to the wonders of jump roping. He reminded us all that the gymnasium was a “classroom”, and the PE standards that students tackled were just as important to a healthy and robust life as reading, math, etc. We wish Mr. McKay a wonderful and active retirement.
Respectfully,
Sean

Student Work Snapshot
It has been wonderful seeing student work go up on our hallway walls. Typically parents/guardians can see these items as they come and go from the school, but this year is different. Therefore, we wanted to bring some of this amazing work to you. We’ll be publishing random examples of the hallway offerings until the end of the school year. See the photo collection below.

Safe Routes to School ~ June
As you and your children get ready for a summer of fun and adventure, review the PALS slogan to help all have a healthy, happy, fun-filled summer!P –Polite: Respect all road users.A –Alert: Keep your eyes, ears and brain open and ready.L –Legal: Obey all signs and signals, know your rights AND responsibilities.S –Safe: Know your abilities to make good choices. This summer try mapping your route to school, community center, pool or park. List positives and negatives about the trip. What can you/we do to make it better? Try writing a letter to your local newspaper or school teacher about where you’ve gone, how many miles traveled, and what improvements you’d like to see on those routes. Maybe we can make them better!
