A Message From The Principal

May 13, 2022

Several times today I found myself saying "it sure feels like old times here at Tarwater." We had a campus full of activity today and it was great to see. We welcomed volunteers on campus for our volunteer breakfast, the second graders had visitors for their country reports, sixth graders had parents on campus for lunch, and classrooms all over campus were doing engaging activities. This last month of school is a busy one, but it's great to have so much learning to celebrate. Teachers are working hard to keep students engaged and having fun. We know that the learning isn't finished, but we also know that fun has to be part of it this time of year.

Yesterday we hosted an ice cream social for incoming Kindergarten students. We find ourselves living in two school years in May. We are welcoming new friends as we wrap up a year and prepare to say goodbye to old friends. It's definitely a tricky balance, but we know that is what May is all about!

This is the time of year when I remind all students and teachers that our aim is to finish strong. Please help at home by remembering to follow the same routines you have followed all school year, save vacation time for summer, and make sure students stay focused on the now. Summer and next school year will be here soon enough. Let's live in the now!

Take time this weekend to rest and enjoy.
