Distance Learning- Week 3
Hello families,
Please know the Kutz staff sincerely appreciates your hard work, creativity, and patience thus far with our distance learning. We are beyond proud of the way your children have embraced this so quickly. We are certainly all in this together, finding balance with school, family, and adjusting to the new routines of our new normal. We recognize how challenging this has been for EVERYONE. A sincere thank you for your continued support.
Please understand that this week (3/30-4/3) is going to be a little different. As you know, teachers will be offering conferences for each family. Therefore, this week your child can catch up on any activities they have not completed. You can still reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions you may have, but please realize they will be hosting conferences and preparing for distance learning for the following week so their response may not be as prompt as the past two weeks. If you have already completed all the suggested activities of the past two weeks, below are some additional optional activities:
- Participate in the school’s daily Flip Grids- (This is a link for the week, but you will have to find the correct topic for each day- https://flipgrid.com/adelberger8004 OR the topics are linked directly below. The password was sent via email.)

- Writing activity- Start a journal and write in it each day for 20 minutes. You can share it with a family member or stuffed animal.
- Reading activity- Read independently for 20 minutes each day and retell the plot to a family member or stuffed animal.
- Math activity- Go play outside and record the number of animals or people you see. Turn it into a graph. You can write math facts with chalk, too.
- Science activity- Go on a nature walk.
- Social studies activity- Research a famous landmark or place you are interested in.

CB Technology Device Handout Recap
Your children are very important to us and we were so happy to help with Thursday’s handout. Thank you for all of the kind words you sent our way. We do know that some of you have been emailing for support so we are sending out a few hints.
Please read all of the items carefully.
- SeeSaw App for K-2: Students attempting to use Seesaw on a district iPad may run into issues because the Seesaw app we have installed is for in-school use. To use “at-home QR codes”, the app needs to be updated. Here are the steps for updating the app:
- Open the “Self-service” app on the iPad.
- Reinstall the Seesaw app from self-service. This will update the app and allow for at-home login.
- Logging in to the Laptop: Students will use their FULL CB email address(lastname.firstinitial###@student.cbsd.org) & password to log into the laptop. Your classroom teacher can help you with the log-in information. You can also email our support team.
- Updating Devices: To allow your computer to be completely up to date after the handout, CBSD will be sending updates to the computers that could cause a random restart. Please make sure to have autosave turned on by creating new documents through Office 365 on the web so you do not lose work.
- Device Having Issues: Restarting your computer will solve many computer issues. Please restart twice before reaching out for tech support.
- Support: Visit https://www.cbsd.org/covid and select “Technology Support”.
- For technical support, parents or students (grades 4-6 & 12th) can email techsupport@cbsd.org.
- Please follow general problem-solving strategies prior to entering a ticket & provide as much information as possible to expedite a resolution.
- Note: We are working with over 20,000 people and trying to support many issues. Your patience is appreciated.
- Broken Hardware: We will attempt to have frequent drive through hardware support for our staff and students. In the event that device peripherals (pens, chargers, batteries, etc.) stop working or need replacement, families and staff do not need to purchase them through MyPaymentsPlus at this time. These devices can be bought directly from Amazon or a retailer of your choosing. A list of supplies can be found here: https://www.cbsd.org/Page/51509
- Return of Devices: These devices and chargers MUST be returned to the student’s school when distance learning is over. You will receive a message from your principal when it is.
Thank you so much for all of your support and understanding!
Sincerely,
Jason Jaffe
