Hello Country Dale Families,
We had great first-week welcoming students back to school in small groups. I have heard from nearly every staff member how much they loved being able to spend time getting to know their new students while being able to focus on everyone’s social and emotional needs. Hopefully, your children enjoyed a more intimate setting as well this past week.
Parent drop-off and pick-up
Now that we’ve been able to try out some of our new procedures, I felt this was a good time to clarify a few things. To begin, please see this communication that was shared previously as it explains our NEW morning drop off and afternoon pick-up procedures. If you are going to drop your children off in the morning or pick them up at the end of the day, please follow our parent drop-off and pick-up procedures closely in order to ensure the safety of everyone at Country Dale.
If your child takes the bus, please be patient as our drivers become familiar with their new routes. You should also expect delays for the next couple of weeks as it takes a while for the bus drivers, students and our staff to learn all of the new procedures. We will continue to tweak our practices as we figure out what is working and what is not working with our arrival and dismissal routines. I thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding.
Next week Wednesday, September 9th, will be our lockdown drill of the year. We are required by the state to practice safety drills throughout the year. Typically our drills are supposed to be unannounced but due to COVID-19, parents are being notified in advance in case you feel more comfortable keeping your child home during the duration of the drill. Our drill this week will take place at 9:45 am and will last approximately 5-10 minutes. We will do our best to ensure social distancing (ie-all students and staff will wear a mask and students will remain with their cohort). Please read this parent communication for more details.
As you know, everyone (adults and children) are required to wear a mask on campus and in the building except during when eating and drinking or participating in adult-led outdoor socially-distanced activities. The learning environment extends to the school bus as well, students and drivers are expected to wear face coverings. Students and staff have done a great job with masks this week. Thank you for continuing to practice mask use at home and working to find which masks fit/work best for your child (covers chin and nose and fits well). Although we do not anticipate any problems, if students do not wear a mask, we may need to reach out to you for additional support to ensure all are wearing masks. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
If you have any questions, please reach out!

ATTENDANCE PROCESS UPDATE FOR ALL SCHOOLS
HOLD THE PHONE! Literally!
As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to alert all parents that Franklin is implementing a new attendance procedure due to the impact of COVID-19. When your child is unable to attend school for any reason, we ask that you fill out THIS FORM located as a button on the Home Page and “Parents Information” sections of your school’s website to report/excuse ANY absence. This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent. The form can be submitted from your phone or other mobile devices, and only takes a few minutes to complete. Responses to the items on this form will be used to enter, code, and track absences in our system. Student specific medical information collected by the form will remain confidential and only be shared within the health and nursing services team.
This form was designed to help us rapidly assess possible cases of COVID-19 so that we can mitigate the spread of the virus. After completing the form, you may receive a follow-up phone call from one of our health and nursing services staff with either follow-up questions or additional information.
To help families transition to this new system, we are still allowing parents to call in your child’s school’s absence line to report your child absent through October 2. As of October 5, this form is the only way you will be able to notify us of your child’s absence. When calling, please be as detailed as possible with regard to the reason your child is absent. If you call the school absence line, and your child is ill, it is likely that you will receive a follow-up phone call from a district staff member.
Parents will no longer be able to send an email to report their child absent.
We advise that you bookmark this form on your computer or make a home screen shortcut on your phone for quick access. The form is the same across the district and can be used for ANY type of absence.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal.
ATTENTION 3RD & 4TH GRADE PARENTS
If your student already owns a recorder, book or both, your child’s music teacher will gather that information later in the year prior to recorder lessons.
NEW PROTOCOL FOR PARENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES
At Country Dale, we value the safety of all students and staff. Due to COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions in order to follow the social distancing guidelines provided by the Franklin Health Department. Please read this document carefully as these procedures are different from how we have done things in the past.
If someone other than you provides transportation to or from school, we ask that you share this information with them so they are also familiar with our procedures.
NEW KIDS CLUB DROP OFF & PICK UP PROCEDURES
Parents of those attending before or after school Kids Club - please watch this 2-minute video that walks through how to drop your child off in the morning and pick your child up after school. These new procedures will be in place this week so please review this video.
MEDICATIONS FOR THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR
If your student will require ANY (over the counter or prescription) medication for the 2020-21 school year, please fill out the Request to Administer Medication form and have it signed by your physician.
All medication can then be dropped off at school in its original container along with this form. Please feel free to drop off medication in the office starting August 24.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PTO BOARD
Welcome to a new school year! One of our first items to our agenda for the year is to get families signed up for our directory. If you want to have your name in the PTO directory and want to receive that with the emails about PTO events, you must sign-up here - 2020-2021 PTO Directory. **The school is unable to give out student addresses or phone numbers**If you would like this information, for a birthday party, play date, etc., you will need to sign up for the directory at the beginning of the school year. Only the families that sign up will be included in the directory and will be able to get the directory.
You are able to fill out as little information if you are concerned about yours or your student's privacy. You must fill one out for each student every year.
Want to help out? Email us or drop into one of our virtual meetings to learn how you can help support our school for one hour, one day or the whole year long. We need your help and expertise, please consider volunteering and making our school great!
