Principal's Message...
I want to praise all teachers, staff and especially students, for the amazing execution of an unconventional lockdown event that occured last week. Engaging in these activities, unexpectedly, can be unsettling and I was so impressed and proud of how swiftly, calmly and effectively the community responded. If you have any questions or concerns you would like to address, please reach out to me directly- 401-360-1604.
As we navigate through the school year together, it is important that we have a clear vision as to where we want to go. We are all unique and special, with our own identities and because we act based on our core values, it is important that we take time to align them. In this process, all voices need to share what they want their children to achieve, through their experiences at PDES. Although defining "what" we want for our students to accomplish at Peace Dale is important and although we will spend much time figuring out "how" to accomplish this together, I really want to challenge everyone to think about their "WHY" first. Why do you want this for your child? Why is it important. Why do you care? When we know our why we walk with purpose.
In October, I would like to invite all stakeholders to a Visioning Workshop. Please note the specific dates and times in our calendar updates below.
I am looking forward to creating this vision with all stakeholders, and leading others to feel empowered to become the change agents needed to achieve excellence in education for all of our students.
Best always,
Mrs. Komocar
Know Your Why
Safety- Dismissal Updates
Recently, some have questioned, "If it's not broken, why fix it? We have never had these problems in the past?" The answer simply is, to keep students safe. Creating and/or enforcing systems is crucial to student safety. Systems are, by definition, "a set of detailed methods, procedures and routines created to carry out a specific activity or perform a duty. Dismissing over 400 students, daily, within 17 minutes -with limited staff- requires tight procedures, to ensure order and safety.
I would like to invite you to a family forum on October 3d, from 6:30pm-7:30pm (PDES Cafeteria) to obtain updates regarding how PDES is taking action to strengthen systems at dismissal and to also allow families the opportunity to share their input into making our systems even stronger.
Although dismissal procedures are strengthening, they can get better and I know with your support, we can build the safest learning spaces for our kids, allowing them to grow and flourish to their fullest potential.
