Dear families,
Wow! I can’t believe it has been over a month since school began. We are settling into our routines and learning more and more about our friends and family. As you know, it is very important for preschoolers to be able to share what is important in their lives, and their family is the center of that. If you could send a couple family photos with your child or via email, they will be added to our family tree.
This week, we focused on when things happen at school. The children were introduced to the importance of time in their daily schedule and they practiced making steady beats like a clock. They identified and named shapes as they made clocks from the Rhyme, Hickory Dickory Dock. In addition, the children explored comparing and contrasting by smelling scents in a cup and measuring our bar graph. They also had fun learning positional words like 'next to', 'in front of', 'behind', 'inside' during "The Stepping Stone activity in which they followed a path and described where they landed.
We are continuing to work on letter recognition and sounds. These activities fulfill one of the many objectives throughout the year. The students explored putting together letters to make their names and they were making a face puzzle.

Library News
These last weeks in the library we have been exploring how characters show their feelings in the books. We have been paying close attention to the faces of the characters in the stories. We have been following David since he was a baby and we know that he learned to say “I’m sorry”. We learned how to politely say “No, thank you, I don’t like that” and that it is important to try new things before we definitely say we don’t want something. In “Green Eggs and Ham” we saw how the character liked the Green Eggs and Ham after so many times saying he didn’t like them. We also hear about a little bird who went out in the world looking for his mother and we saw him, excited, worried, angry and happy at the end.
