Statewide offering | Grades 3+
In person
As part of this year’s 4-H Engineering Design Challenge (EDC) state showcase, in collaboration with our partners at the Minnesota State Engineering Center of Excellence, we are introducing the Reverse Engineering Challenge (REC).
The Reverse Engineering Challenge is a same-day opportunity for teams of 2 - 5 youth in grades 3+ to explore engineering and 21st century skills while identifying a solution to a proposed challenge.
Learn more and register by July 1.
Teams that participate will:
- Be given a challenging scenario and a product or device.
- Disassemble and examine the product or device in detail.
- Identify technology from the product/device that can be used to solve the given challenge.
- Create a proposed solution using that technology.
- Present their solution to others.
Youth do not already need to be involved in the challenge to participate. We invite all youth to join us to innovate, problem solve, and have fun working with others!

Let's Talk about Gender Identity
State Offering | Grades 6-12
Virtual
Let’s Talk about Gender Identity is a five-session series designed to provide a safe place for youth to have important conversations about gender identity. This series demonstrates to LGBTQ+ youth that they are valued and welcomed by 4-H and gives all youth the tools to be supportive and effective allies. The peer-reviewed curriculum was created by MN 4-H youth alongside regional and local Extension educators. Session highlights include gender identity basics, a panel of LGBTQ+ and ally 4-H alumni, and tools to interrupt harassment and bias. Youth will be able to connect, share, and hear from 4-H Alumni in a safe and supportive environment facilitated by their peers online at the end of June. Review the Minnesota 4-H Code of Conduct
With so many summer 4-H activities planned, now is the time for 4-H members, parents, and volunteers to review the Minnesota 4-H code of conduct. Also, share the behavior expectations with any of your guests who will be attending a 4-H program. Following this standard of behavior contributes to a safe, welcoming environment. The code of conduct applies to both face-to-face and online environments and is in effect:
While participating in or attending a 4-H sponsored program (e.g., club meeting, project meeting, activity, event, learning opportunity).
At the county fair while participating in or attending a 4-H event or while on premises used for 4-H purposes (e.g., show ring, exhibit building, barn, food stand).
At the state fair, during their (or their child’s) assigned encampment or assigned volunteer responsibility.
