November/December Highlights
Starbooks Cafe
Sixth grade students participated in a book tasting at the Starbooks Cafe. They experienced "tasting" various genres of books and wrote about their first impressions.
AVID Occupation Trading Cards
AVID students continued their career exploration project by creating occupation trading cards using the results of their interest inventory. Students explored the skills/education required to do their selected occupation, as well as salary and job availability in Texas.
Parent/Student Lunch & Learn
The Family Engagement Specialist joined Driscoll Library for a lunch & learn with Driscoll parents and students. Parents learned about library resources available to students, as well as how they can help support reading at home.
Texas History DBQ
Seventh grade students took on the DBQ challenge in the library. Students explored the legacy of the Alamo and answered a document-based question using primary and secondary sources.
Bill of Rights Bento Box
Eighth grade students created a Bill of Rights bento box to review the first 10 amendments of the Constitution. Students chose a symbol for each amendment and explained why that symbol best represented that amendment.
December Challenges
The December library challenge was a scavenger hunt in the library. Students that completed the scavenger hunt got a token to use on the prize drop. Students loved this!
January Choice Board
Explore our January Choice Board for some fun winter-themed activities and other January highlights. Students can also set goals using the goal-setting sheet. Click on the image to get started. Have fun!
Holocaust Remembrance Week
January 23-27 is Holocaust Remembrance Week. During this week we remember the many that died as a result of the Jewish Holocaust. Below are some resources for students to explore to learn more about this time in history and to build social awareness.

February is Black History Month. The library will have various activities to help celebrate Black History in the United States.
