From Mrs. Sawatzky
Good afternoon Meadowbrook,
I don't always keep up with questions and concerns that are posted on Facebook, but I did take a look recently and thought I'd use this week to address some posts:
1. The Vaccination Clinic at North Junior High is tonight from 4:00pm-7:00pm. While our primary focus is vaccinating scholars aged 5-11, the entire school community is welcome. No appointment needed.
2. If your child is fully vaccinated (14 days after their second dose) and identified as a close contact, a quarantine from school is not required if they are not displaying any symptoms. As always, children with symptoms should stay at home.
3. We met with our noon hour supervisors this week to discuss active supervision and procedures for reporting issues that arise during recess. Please encourage your child to report issues of unkind behavior to any trusted adult at school.
While I recognize that Facebook is a convenient way to gather quick feedback, I encourage you to reach out to me or Mr. Lawson directly with questions and concerns. This ensures you receive an accurate and timely response.
P.S. Don't forget next Thursday, November 16 is a Late Start. School will begin at 11:30am.
Meadowbrook Receives HEF Grant
Panorama Social Emotional Learning Survey
We will be asking for your child to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey they will be completing at school. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete.
The survey will ask students to self-reflect on seven social and emotional competencies aligned with the district strategic plan: sense of belonging, rigorous expectations, growth mindset, social awareness, emotion regulation, positive feelings, and challenging feelings. In addition, students in grades 6-12 will be responding to survey questions that address the school's supports that promote inclusion and equity.
We are asking that all of our students participate in the surveys, as their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential. We are partnering with a third-party vendor to support us in administering these surveys.
If you have any questions about the SEL survey or would like information about opting out, please don’t hesitate to contact Keshan Singh at 952-988-4290 or email@example.com.
School is in full swing and we are hard at work on your child’s 2022 Yearbook. We can’t wait for you to see this year’s book! Don’t put it off, order now at the link below.

Important Vaccination Information -- Clinics Coming Soon
Last week, the FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine for ages 5-11. Final CDC approval occurred this week.
Hopkins Public Schools will host a pair of vaccination clinics. We will hold the first clinic on November 12, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and the second clinic three weeks later on December 3, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. We are in need of medical volunteers for our clinics. You can learn how to volunteer on our website.
Both clinics will take place at the North Junior High Athletic Structure. While our primary focus is vaccinating scholars aged 5-11, the entire school community is welcome. No appointment needed. You can access more information about the clinics at the flyer below or on our Healthy in Hopkins webpage.
Free At-Home COVID-19 Testing for Hopkins Scholars
Hopkins Schools will continue to offer weekly COVID-19 testing for all scholars. Through grant funds, we purchased more test kits and will continue our testing program throughout the rest of the school year. In addition, families who would like test kits may order free home testing kits through the MN Department of Health at any time.
COVID-19 Dashboard is now live
Hopkins Public Schools COVID-19 Dashboard remains live on our website. The dashboard shares the virus transmission rate in our community and the number of positive cases and quarantines among staff and students. The dashboard will be updated Fridays at noon.
More Vaccination Information
Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is safe and easy. Everyone in your family aged 5 or older is eligible for vaccination. Many healthcare providers and retailers with pharmacies now provide vaccinations. They include CVS, Cub Foods, Hy-Vee, Target / CVS, Thrifty White Pharmacy, Walgreens, and Walmart / Sam’s Club.
