Cohasset High School Newsletter
News and Happenings at Cohasset High School
November 24, 2021
Dear Families,
I delayed the newsletter until after the weekend for a couple of reasons, one of which was the possibility of announcing a state champion. Despite an incredible effort, we fell a little short. But I could not be more proud of our girls and really of all of our fall sports teams, cheerleaders, and pep band.
As I've said to them on several occasions, I continue to be impressed with this senior class and how they have approached the year. They've chosen not to make it about them and they're seeing the rewards of taking that approach. This past weekend was no different. The community send off was wonderful and the crowd in Lynn was large, energized, and respectful.
Having been in education for the better part of 20 years, I've seen a lot of wins and losses and the losses are hard on students in particular. And that's part of the learning process . . . to appreciate the opportunity earned, get back up, and move forward. One of my pet peeves are teams that create a well of sorrow for themselves, coming into school a couple of hours late after a difficult loss instead of coming in wearing their school colors and their heads high proud of how they represented themselves and Cohasset.
No well of sorrow for this group.
What did they do Sunday morning? The boys and girls' teams volunteered their time to rake leaves and remove branches from seven Cohasset Senior Center yards (special thanks to Mr. Pete Buckley for taking the leaves to the dump). It's efforts like that that speak to the character and integrity of this group across all grades, two characteristics the community can get behind.
We have one more chance to bring home a title as the football team takes on Waconah, Mr. Sears' alma mater, on December 1st at 5:30 at Gillette. Best of luck to them as they continue a truly remarkable season.
Whatever happens, I hope we can all appreciate the present. It wasn't too long ago we might have taken all of this for granted. These are the moments for which I am grateful this year. Have a restful and joyful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Brian T. Scott

Doctors without Borders
Help juniors Natalie Corwin and Laura Saiz support Doctors Without Borders,. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that provides aid to people in some 60 countries whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.
Natalie and Laura are raising funds and awareness to support its response to emergencies around the world. In 2019 they raised over $7,000, and this year aim to exceed $8,000. The event is 11/25/2021, but donations are open until 12/31/2021.
