Band News
The 5-8 graders at Longfellow, Gertie Belle Rogers, LB Williams and Mitchell Middle School got the opportunity to learn a little bit about marching. They sat with the high school band during the 1st half of the Mitchell Kernel's football game and then played bucket drums along with the band's halftime performance. What a fun experience for ALL involved.
Thank you to Mr. Stahle and all of the high school band members for including these future band members and giving them a little taste of what their hard work can turn into.
MHS Indoor Marching Band Show
Our 5th graders were lucky enough to perform with the MHS band at a recent football game. Now is your chance to see the show if you haven't yet.
The program will be fun with several surprises by parents and students.

FITNESS COMPONENT OF THE MONTH CHALLENGE!
Longfellow Lions and families will be given a Fitness Component each month to focus on. Along with the component, there will be examples of activities that can be done to help each of us improve in these areas. You might even have your own ideas and that is fine!
Students will be focusing on these specific activities in PE class.
Families and students are encouraged to work together on these activities at home throughout the month! As you work on these activities outside of school, take a picture at least once a month and post it to our private Facebook group.
Our private Facebook group is called Longfellow Lions Family Fitness Component of the Month Challenge. Search the group and ask to join. If that doesn’t work, send a message to Mrs. Eitemiller and you will be added to the group.
There will be random prizes throughout the year, not necessarily at the end of each month!
I can’t wait to see all of our Longfellow Lions and families grow stronger and healthier together this year!!!
The November Fitness Component is: CARDIOVASCULAR ENDURANCE
Cardiovascular Endurance - The ability of your heart and lungs to provide oxygen to the working muscles over a long period of time.
Activities to build cardiovascular endurance: jumping jacks, walking, running, dancing, stair climbing, jumping rope, mountain climbing, biking, swimming
Make sure to post a picture of you in action or email it to Heidi.Eitemiller@k12.sd.us. You never know when there might be a prize drawing for participating!
