Return to Learn Update
Dear Prairie Vista Families,
As I shared with you last week, the P-H-M Board of School Trustees unanimously approved a “Return to Learn” plan to bring elementary students back to the classroom for those families who want to return to in-person learning. This plan has been updated and I want to share with you NEW INFORMATION about the virtual learning option. Below you will find additional information on our Virtual Learning experience for students choosing to remain virtual. Here is the letter that Dr. Thacker sent to parents last week.
Students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade will have the choice of face to face instruction or to remain with virtual instruction. If you haven't already completed the questionnaire, please complete the questionnaire below by this Friday, September 11th. If you would like to change your response, please send an email to Shannon Tadevich at stadevich@phm.k12.in.us.
This choice will begin for Kindergarten - Third-grade students on September 14, 2020.
Fourth and Fifth-grade students will remain with virtual learning through September 18, 2020. If you have a fourth or fifth-grade student, the option you choose on the questionnaire will take effect on September 21, 2020.
One questionnaire MUST be completed for each elementary child. If you have children attending a P-H-M middle school or Penn High School, you must complete a different questionnaire for those students.
Please note that on September 10th and 11th, our teachers will be planning for the return of students to in-person school. Therefore, the structure of virtual learning will be a more traditional "eLearning" model. Teachers will check-in with students in the morning for a brief time, then the rest of the day will be self-paced with assignments, activities, and recorded lessons.
I will be sending another newsletter home on Thursday with specific information for students that will be returning to school for face to face learning. The newsletter will provide information about the arrival and dismissal procedures.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
In this together,
Keely Twibell
