If you have been a part of our 8 week Mindfulness course, you are invited back to Oakland Schools to refresh your practice and take it to the next level. These two day-long sessions will focus on the primary practices of mindfulness and how they can translate into our work with students.

Taught by Rita Benn, PhD
Rita Benn, PhD is an accomplished teacher, and researcher. She has been practicing meditation for over 30 years, and has taught and facilitated many group-based workshops and interventions using mindfulness-based practices in the university and community. She is the Director of the Faculty Scholar's Program in Integrative Healthcare at the University of Michigan and has held appointments in the Department of Family Medicine, Institute for Social Research and Institute for Research on Women and Gender. Dr. Benn has developed coursework, clinical electives and curriculum guides in integrative medicine, and consults and conducts research for several national programs and educational institutions. She is on the executive board of the Consortium for Academic Health Center in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Benn and her colleagues recently published the results of a randomized trial on the influence of meditation on well-being for parents of children with special needs and school personnel.
