Ms. Hannah's Class
January 18-22
No PRESCHOOL Monday, January 18!
January 18-22
We are starting our new unit! Boxes, Buildings and Roads. This week we will be exploring "What do buildings and roads look like in our neighborhoods?" We will look at buildings and map of Papillion and La Vista. We will journal about what our houses look like. The children will draw picture of the front of their houses.
We will read:
- The Three Little Pigs by Bonnie Dobkin
- Buildings, Buildings, Buildings by Trish Holland
- House, Sweet House by Trish Holland
- Daddy, Are We There Yet? by Virgina Walters
Our vote questions (one per day) will be:
- Do you live in a house or an apartment?
- Which pig's house do you think is the strongest?
- How many buildings are by our school?
- Have you ever seen this building before? (picture of the white house)
Language Group January 18-22
We will continue to follow directions identifying shapes- star, circle, square, triangle, heart. We will "act out" the action depicted in a picture and describe the present action about ourselves or a peer using the correct subject pronoun (I, He, She), copula verb form (am, is) and present progressive verb (-ing) in our utterance. We will say the words and do the actions to the nursery rhyme “Little Miss Muffet”.
Little Miss Muffet
Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider,
And sat down beside her,
And frightened Miss Muffet away
Spring Home Visits/Conferences
Dear Parents,
It’s time to get together and talk about your preschooler’s progress and development. Face to face communication provides a great opportunity for us to build a partnership between home and school. This semester I will be offering the opportunity for home visits. Within our district, a home visit is the preferred method of communication, but if you’d rather, I’m offering parent teacher conferences here at school.
If you choose a home visit, they will take place AT YOUR HOME on over a few different days in February.
If you prefer a conference, they will be AT SCHOOL on Thursday, February 11th.
If neither date works for you and you would like to meet, please email me to set up a date/time.
Please sign up by Thursday, January 14th to secure your time.
Tuition and Taxes...
Dear Parents: Thank you for taking care of your child’s tuition each month! For those of you preparing to file taxes, our Federal EIN# is 47-6005159. Just a reminder, you can print your own year-end statement from the Tuition Express website (www.tuitionexpress.com). You all received a personal ID at the start of the year to set up your child’s account. Please let me know if you have questions, forgot your child’s Tuition Express ID, or are having difficulty with the website. Thanks! Kristy Feden, Supervisor of Early Childhood (kfeden@paplv.org)
Kindergarten!
Dear Parents: If you have a child who is old enough to attend Kindergarten this next year (they need to be 5 on or before July 31), you will need to complete online enrollment for Kindergarten. Please feel free to do this as soon as possible, as that will allow the District to begin to get a count of the children who will be in Kindergarten in the Fall.
How Do You Enroll?
· All students must be enrolled online.
· Please go to www.plcschools.org
· Click on “Parents” at top right
· On Left side, click on “Enrolling in PLC Schools”
· Then follow Online Enrollment instructions
Kindergarten Round Up Dates will be available after we return from Break. You will be asked to provide current proof of residency at Round Up. Please don’t hesitate to call me if you have any questions! Have a restful break and enjoy your family!

Special Attendance...
Dear Parents: We are quickly approaching the end of our first Semester of preschool! If you have a child who will be transitioning to Kindergarten and you are considering any attendance options other than your child’s neighborhood school, it is important that you learn about transfer options. There are specific deadlines for applying for special attendance, and I wanted to share a resource with you, should you desire more information. Go to our District website (www.plcschools.org) and click on the “Parents” button at the top of the screen. Next, click on “Changing a Child’s School or District” on the left-hand side of the screen. You will now see all of the information regarding transfer options. Please note: the preschool team is not involved in the special attendance process. You will need to contact Central Office as indicated on the website should you have further questions. We simply want to make you aware of the deadlines that will quickly approach after we return from Winter Break and provide the website information should you have an interest in this topic.
I hope you and your family have a restful and relaxing Winter Break! We look forward to seeing our preschoolers in 2016! As always, please feel free to contact me with questions regarding early childhood. Sincerely, Kristy Feden, Supervisor of Early Childhood (kfeden@paplv.org/402-514-3242)
