Inspiring Tomorrow's Innovators, Today!
April 4, 2021
Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
I hope you have had a wonderful, long Easter weekend. We are in the final two months of this creative school year and end of year testing is upon us. All classes at Roosevelt will be asynchronous this Tuesday, April 6 and this Thursday, April 8 due to the STAAR English EOC testing. All in-person learners who are not taking the STAAR English EOC tests, but come to campus on those days, will report to the portables/Arts & Science building area and will be assigned to a classroom to work asynchronously. More details about this week's STAAR testing days are included below.
The second semester exam schedule was released this week. Below is a picture of the exam schedule as well as a link to the full version of the exam schedule. Seniors will begin exams earlier than underclassmen so all grades can be finalized for them prior to graduation. Dr. Maika shared a YouTube video this past week for our seniors and their families about graduation in NEISD. Here is a Link to Dr. Maika's message The Roosevelt graduation for the Class of 2021 will be on Monday, May 31 at 7:00 PM in the Alamodome. In addition, we are currently working on details for DATA senior awards and will share those details in the coming weeks.
It is as important as ever for students to login each day for classes and to complete assignments on time. Teachers are available to assist during blended learning times that begin at 9am for morning sessions and 3:30pm for afternoon sessions. Students be sure to finish this year as sTRong as possible and earn all the credits for the classes you are enrolled in. If you have attendance issues, please be sure to access the virtual Saturday school options to assist.
Thank you for reviewing the many details and reminders included below. Please continue to stay safe. If you have specific questions, please feel free to reach out.
Stay well,
Lori Murach
STAAR EOC English I and English II Testing Days Information
The STAAR EOC English tests will begin at 9:00 AM on their respective days and are five-hour tests. Students who are testing will be allowed into their assigned room at 8:45 AM. Proctors are to begin reading the instructions at 9:15 AM. On the testing days, posters will be hanging on the cafeteria windows in the courtyard with testing students’ assigned room numbers and staff will be available to assist students with finding their assigned testing rooms. All testers should bring their district issued laptop or chromebook with the charger to campus on their respective testing day.
Students will be required to stay in their testing classroom for four hours (until 1:30 PM). Lunch will begin at 1:30 PM for all testing students. A sack lunch will be provided for all testers, but students can bring their own lunch if they wish. Students who are normally off-campus learners and have finished their EOC test may get their lunch and leave campus after 1:30 PM. If students have finished their tests who are normally an on-campus learner, they will be assigned to a classroom in the portable/Arts & Science area to work asynchronously. All students who are normally off-campus learners may wait by the front library circle for their rides until 2:30 PM. At 2:30 PM, any off-campus learners who have still not been picked up will be asked to move to assigned classrooms where they can work asynchronously. Students will not be allowed to roam the campus or wait in the front of the school until 4:15 PM.
If a student who still needs to pass the English EOC does not come to campus to take the STAAR EOC test in April 2021, they will be asked to come test during the future STAAR EOC testing windows. The next opportunities will be this summer and then next December. The state has not waived the requirement that students must pass the EOCs this year for graduation.
