The Raptor Report August 24, 2020
All Things Rushing!
It has been so amazing to see all of your kiddos working hard and getting back into the swing of school, whether virtually or in-person. We have wasted no time diving into to all of the new learning. While we have worked out the kinks with technology, you all have been so patient and gracious, we appreciate that more than you know! Hopefully, we are at a point where learning is happening with fewer interruptions. I know all of our teachers are so excited to continue to build relationships with their kiddos, in-person and virtually!
I wanted to impress upon you all one more time how thankful I am for your support and kindness as we start the school year. I have said it before but it is so true, we are a partnership! Together we will continue to create an environment where all of our kiddos feel safe and where they can learn and grow. Someone sent me the picture below and it seemed an appropriate message to send to start the school year! Please continue to reach out with any concerns, questions, and/or suggestions!
Thank you for your continued support and, as I have said, with GRACE, GRATITUDE, and KINDNESS, we can resolve any issue and move forward for the success of our students at Rushing Middle School, GO RAPTORS!

Exciting Library News!
We will be getting library books in students' hands this week for both virtual and in person learners! In addition to eBooks and audiobooks in Sora, students will now have access to print books from the library. In person learners will get them during the school day. Virtual learners will get books through our curbside grab & go service. If your child is a virtual learner please refer to the Grab & Go Curbside Checkout document for details. Curbside services will begin on Thursday, August 27th.

Attendance for Virtual Learners!
There have been quite a few questions from parents regarding attendance coding for virtual students.
- All Virtual classes must mark the student “Remote Sync - Present,” “Remote Async - Present,” or “Absent”.
- This means that Virtual students will have a “Positive” attendance marking in Skyward.
- This is a new process for Skyward and it is showing “Absence” on some Skyward screens in Parent Accounts when it is not an absence at all.
- Please view the Attendance Tab on your Parent Skyward account and look for the further detail on the attendance marking in question.
- If you see “Remote Sync - Present,” “Remote Async - Present” in the explanation for the attendance detail this is NOT an absence, but a “positive” attendance marking indicating that the student was present in their virtual class.
We recognize that these new Attendance Codes have caused some confusion and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we continue to make adjustments.
A big thank you to all who have joined the PTO and purchased Spirit Wear. We wouldn't be able to support our staff and students without you.
Our first Spirit Night is Monday August 24th at the Gates of Prosper Chick-fil-A. Skip making breakfast, lunch and/or dinner and support the PTO with 20% of sales being donated to Rushing Middle School PTO.

Wear Yellow Wednesdays!
"Be Kind" T-Shirts - Order Yours Today
Hope Squad has organized "Be Kind" yellow T-Shirts as a symbol to simply be kind to one another, which is why you often see yellow shirts and apparel throughout our district on every Wednesday of each month. This stems from supporting the cause of suicide awareness and prevention. This year we have two shirt options for you to choose from and purchase through myschoolbucks for $10. Orders will be placed monthly and delivered to your child's campus. The first order will be placed September 1st.
Please log into your "MySchoolBucks" account to order your t-shirt. The shirt will be delivered to your child's campus.
Children's Health Stadium will be lit up yellow every Wednesday evening as a simple reminder for our community to exercise kindness. SO, if you find yourself driving around Prosper any Wednesday evening, run by the stadium to enjoy PISD's symbol for kindness.
