December 4 - High School Science Cohort-Biology
Often times, teachers in small districts do not have the opportunity to plan with other science teachers. This cohort is designed to allow science teachers time to study their standards, learn and improve teaching strategies, and plan with other teachers. Participants will meet face to face, either at Region 7 or on their own campuses, as well as online throughout the year.
January 18 - Biology EOC Success: Genetics and Heredity
We will examine the biology concepts of Genetics and Heredity, breakdown the related TEKS, and learn strategies to prepare students for success. We will also explore hands-on, student-centered lessons framed in the research-based 5E instructional model.
February 19 - Biology EOC Success: Virus, Bacteria, Protista
We will examine the biology concepts of Virus, Bacteria, Prostista, breakdown the related TEKS, and learn strategies to prepare students for success. We will also explore hands-on, student-centered lessons framed in the research-based 5E instructional model.
March 6 - Biology EOC Success: Animal Systems
We will examine the biology concepts of Animal Systems, breakdown the related TEKS, and learn strategies to prepare students for success. We will also explore hands-on, student-centered lessons framed in the research-based 5E instructional model.
April 3 - STAAR Ready: Biology EOC Review
The STAAR Biology End-of-Course Exam is almost here. This session will cover the latest STAAR Biology EOC information from TEA and strategies to review and help prepare students to earn their best possible score. Participants will collaborate to build a review website (no prior experience needed) and discuss best practices for using the tool to review.
