Asian Pacific American Heritage

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month - The history and culture of Asian and Pacific Islanders are integral in our West Hartford community and in our nation. May is a time designated to honor and celebrate generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have shaped and enriched America's history from the dawn of our nation to present day.

While AAPI Heritage Month is a time for joy and celebration in honor of diverse Asian identities, it cannot be ignored that it isn't without a test of strength and resilience that AAPI communities have had to rise and persist through difficult times. As a district, we will continue to stand in community, solidarity with our AAPI friends and colleagues and will not let darkness seep into the light and beauty that our AAPI neighbors and community members possess and emit.
