Gresham Go - To

Weekly Staying Connected While Apart

On our last day off we visited Newport for the very first time. We didn't research much at all before we headed out on the road. The trip was beautiful - filled with green trees, hills, and seeing the ocean was breathtaking. Then we ended up spending our time walking around the Historic Bayfront. As we walked down sidewalks, we heard the sounds of the sea lions. The ruckus was so loud that we actually thought that it was some nature recording blasting out of a shop to lure people in. We were surprised to see a large gathering of sea lions on a nearby mountain of rocks and also just a feet below us on the water.

We just watched the sea lions lazing around on the dock, fighting for space, "talking" to each other, and cozying up and napping. We saw many of the sea lions at one point arch their backs and their faces to the sky as if to say, "Ah, this is the life." I'm not sure if that's what they were actually doing or thinking, but it did make me think ... wow, to enjoy life. Are we living our best life right now?

If we were to live as if "Jesus is coming tomorrow", would we regret our days? So far in this month we've talked about fellowship, being a witness, and fear ... what is God laying upon your heart? How is he calling you to live? What is he calling you to do?

"Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you." Psalm 37:3-5
