Shining Light Project
Attention! Attention! This is not a drill! Shining Light Stockings are now out and available for pick-up! Be sure to stop by the board under the stairs in the College of Ed. lobby to pick up a stocking or ornament so that we can help provide underprivileged students and families with presents and necessities for the holidays! Choose your stocking or ornament, fill out the spreadsheet in front of the board that corresponds with your stocking/ornament, and shop away! Please have your presents ready by November 30th and return to the RCOE James Center on the 5th Floor. Thanks for supporting these families for the holidays.

If you attended the Classroom Management Strategies seminar Monday, November 16 with Dr. Chris Van Loan, please send Trisha an email explaining how you will use the information learned in your future classroom and this must be included to receive seminar credit.
Also, if you have served as an usher for the APPlause Events at the Schaefer Center, please email Trisha to receive service hour(s).

Thursday, November 19
- 4th graders are coming to visit 9:30-12:15. They are going to participate in a science demo with Jeff Goodman and then will be exploring geology by visiting the rock museum and rock garden in Rankin. Please fill out the google form if you are able to help! Also, if you are helping with the geology fun, you can meet us in the atrium of Rankin Science South at 11.

Friday, November 20
- Get excited because PRESCHOOLERS ARE COMING! 36 preschoolers will be visiting campus FROM 9-11:15. We will have three stations set up - reading Eric Carle books, a craft, and science demos. We will pair you up with one or two preschool students are you will go around to the different stations with these students. Please fill out the GOOGLE FORM and let us know when you can help! - Inclusion Circle Seminar with student, Mary Helen Helms 3:30pm RCOE in room 124C, and should take no longer than an hour and a half-so if you'd like to go home for the weekend, you can still leave by a decent hour.
I have titled it the Inclusion Circle, focusing on inclusion strategies for all genders and sexualities in our future classrooms. As a future teacher, this is a very important skill to have. I would greatly appreciate every one who comes out and supports me as this is a part of my grade. Living the Autism Spectrum: An Insider's Perspective Seminar

After reading some from her published works, Ms. Jones will open the session to questions. In this way she can insure that this talk is most relevant to those who attend.
Depending on the questions audience members ask, topics of discussion may include emotionality, anxiety, overload, overwhelm, overstimulation, peer relationship dynamics, depression, empathy, managing communication and sensory differences, independent living strategies, and thinking outside the box to create a meaningful life.

About the Presenter:
Sparrow Rose Jones is the author of No You Don’t: Essays from an Unstrange Mind (2013) and The ABCs of Autism Acceptance(Autonomous Press, June 2016). Ms. Jones writes and speaks candidly about her experiences in childhood and adulthood as they relate to autism as well as her other co-occurring conditions (non-24 hour sleep-wake syndrome, face-blindness, diabetes, and celiac disease).
