Roadrunner Review

Stronger Together
We are starting our fourth full week. By now a lot of the kinks have been worked out and teachers are in full learning mode. I know that the teachers at Riggs are so grateful for all the help and time you have put into getting your children comfortable with navigating Google Classroom. We know this has been a learning curve for everyone and we appreciate your partnership and flexibility.
This week's newsletter contains information about some upcoming events and reminders. Please make sure to read each section. As always if you have questions or concerns please reach out to us so that we can assist you!
Warmly,
Jamie Durgey, Principal
Save the Date: September 9th and 10th
Dear Parents,
Our conferences will be held on September 9th and 10th. The fall conference will be a time for parents and teachers to discuss your child’s academic and socio-emotional progression in our virtual learning environment. We use Sign Up Genius to schedule one 15 minute conference per student so that we have a dedicated time to speak to you about your child’s progress. Rigg's schedule for the parent-teacher conferences is as follows:
Wednesday, September 9th – Early dismissal at 11:20 am
Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences ongoing through 4:00 PM
Thursday, September 10th – Early dismissal at 11:20 a.m.
Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences ongoing through 7:00 PM
**The parent sign up will open on Tuesday morning (9/1) at 8:00 AM.**
(You will receive notification from your child's teacher how to sign up)

A+ School Of Excellence
September 3rd and 4th will be our long-awaited A+ School of Excellence Visit. The Arizona Educational Foundation created the A+ School of Excellence Program in 1983 as a comprehensive school assessment tool to identify, celebrate and recognize overall educational excellence in schools throughout Arizona. Schools that ultimately earn the A+ School of Excellence designation consistently share the following traits:
- *Model quality and equity
*Demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence
*Respond successfully to the changing environment of education
*Cultivate learning-centered, safe school environments
*Encourage innovative instruction by supporting teachers
*Actively address students' social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs
*Demonstrate superior ability to go above and beyond the norm in providing services to children, families, and the local community
We are excited to share all the amazing aspects of Riggs Elementary. On September 3rd, some of the judges will be joining our live meet class lessons. The judges are all teachers and administrators from local schools. On September 4th the judges will be meeting with staff, community members, and selected students to learn more about Riggs Elementary. Mrs. Weyenberg will also be on site to discuss the history of Riggs Elementary. We are very honored to be considered again this year. We will keep you all posted with the outcome of our visit.
